20 tracks? huh?

should be titled "middle aged white men complain about cancel culture"
|

"should be titled "middle aged white men complain about cancel culture""
I guess there won't be any collab. with the likes of Laura Jane Grace then lol
Edit : The song is terrible anyway.
|
| |
honestly forgot this band existed lmao
|
| |
i bet this sounds like the new zeal and ardor track
|
| |
Yeah, this song is pretty shit. Band fell off hard after Sound of Madness and it’s just sad now.
|
| |
Oh jeez, these lyrics are so pathetic.
|
| |
This band went to hell after sound of madness came out. Brent's vocals didn't age well at all.
|
| |
I thought this was decent. The only Shinedown album I couldn't stand was Threat to Survival, everything else they've done has ranged from tolerable (more recent) to awesome (older stuff).
|
| |
Just wow! This song is so powerful. The lyrics really capture the culture we are living in. The world has changed, and it's not for the better. I'm excited to hear the rest of the album.
|
| |
ok yeah no i can't not clarify that the above is copy pasted from a youtube comment lmao. fuck this song
|
| |
HAHA I would hope everyone knew that was at least satirical
|
| |
is 2184 a reference to something else or are they just ripping off independent vapor artists now?
|
| |
Shinedown, Bullet For My Valentine and Muse are three different bands in 2022.
|
| |
From the look of that tracklist this seems like a concept album about the "future" where free speech has been outlawed and feelings have been "canceled" lol.
I mean, you gotta respect the ambition, and I think they used to be one of the better post-grunge buttrock bands once upon a time? If it is what it looks like I'm actually intrigued by whether or not they pull this off.
|
| |
Bet this will suck
|
| |
Wow!
This might be even better than Green Day's Uno Dos Tres.
|
| |
Boring, give me something new.
|
| |
"If it is what it looks like I'm actually intrigued by whether or not they pull this off."
I had the same thought, but after hearing that song, guaranteed they will not pull this off. If cringe could be converted to electricity, there's enough cringe in that one song to power a small neighborhood for half a year. This is going to be a trainwreck, but it's either going to be a hilarious one or an embarrassing one.
|
| |
20 buttrock tracks. Wonder what power chords their gonna hit in the chorus.
|
| |
"This is going to be a trainwreck, but it's either going to be a hilarious one or an embarrassing one."
But if it's an entertaining trainwreck they will have succeeded. Based on the current political climate they clearly have a massive audience for this, which means that one day history might speak of this in the same breath as Operation: Mindcrime *shudder*
TBH, I even kind of liked the instruments on this song. Without the cringey lyrics and the overwrought vocals this might've been a pretty decent song.

Trapt, Staind, Seether, and now Shinedown
are all of the early 2000s butt-rock bands full of crazy right-wingers
|
| |
Rock used to be anti establishment…
|
| |
Wait, Seether are right wing? What’s they do, I missed it.
|
| |
I don't recall Shinedown being right-wingers, though I do remember back when everyone was locking down they tried to keep their tour up until they had to cancel at the the last minute.
as for the song, honestly lyrics aside I thought this was alright
|
| |
Wait, Seether are right wing? What’s they do, I missed it.

A concept album about wage stagnation and how neoliberalism is a race to the bottom? No, 20 tracks of whining about not being able to be bigoted in peace.
|
| |
I hate these anti cancel culture babies, own up to your shit like a man
|
| |
Better to be a right winger than a left winger.
|
| |
"Wait, Seether are right wing? What’s they do, I missed it."
song Dangerous off their last album is basically about the exact same thing as this (cancel culture, social media) except with worse lyrics and an anti-abortion line
|
| |
Eh, “Dangerous” is kinda the opposite, that’s him being a cringey old man about how social media makes everyone aggressive narcissists who can get away with shit with “blameless ness”. I’ve seen interviews, he’’she more like “raaahhh, social media is polarizing us and making us feel like it’s okay to be mindlessly aggressive, raaaah, why don’t people like phone calls anymore, grrrrrr”
So, really, he’s more like… an annoying old centrist who might be anti abortion. Not my fave, but he hasn’t gone fuñl tilt yet.
|
| |
So, being critical about social media and cancel culture makes you a right winger? 🤔
|
| |
so called "cancel culture" is very much a right wing talking point, so at the very least he has some right wing opinions.
|
| |
Not to say the anti-cc stuff isn't cringe but
Brent Smith spoke out in support of BLM back then so he's certainly not only right wing
|
| |
So, being critical about social media and cancel culture makes you a right winger?
Yes, unfortunately. Basically if you call out anything immoral that the left does than you must be a racist, bigoted right winger. Been seeing that shit for years!
|
| |
Damn, I think we've pushed gordo too far.
|
| |
Gordo being a real free speech warrior, look at him go
|
| |
Sounds like they forgot how to steal the sun from the sky
|
| |
Falling In Reverse, Skillet, and Shinedown have all released songs about cancel culture in the past 3 weeks.
I hope this isn’t the new trend for the genre. This genre just becomes more of a joke every day
|
| |
My album will be better!
|
| |
What I want to know is whether or not "No Sleep Tonight" will be an enter shikari cover, would be sick
|
| |
is 2184 a reference to something else or are they just ripping off independent vapor artists now?
Since this appears to be a future concept album about cancel culture and free speech... I'm assuming this is a play on Orwell's 1984.
|
| |
Y'all ever ahahahahahahahahahahagahaga
|
| |
"Yes, unfortunately. Basically if you call out anything immoral that the left does than you must be a racist, bigoted right winger."
this guy watches too much ben shapiro
|
| |
"So, being critical about social media and cancel culture makes you a right winger?"
*confused european*
All US politics is generally considered on the "right" spectrum viewed from here in old europe, and we at the same time get quite annoyed by american cancel culture. How can we be lefties and right winger at the same time?
PS: on topic of the song, quite bland but i liked the lead guitar work!
