band rules song is bound to polarize since its like 95% clean singing but both barr and terry sound so good and it still instrumentally mostly feels like volumes just more subdued (that 2nd verse has hella djunz even if its underneath barr's smooth singing). vocal melodies are pretty basic but on the good side of basic (as are honestly most of their hooks that arent edge of the earth). albums looking to be more varied than usual which im here for

and yea even on via the melody has always been a huge part of what i like about them, which on that record (since it only has 2 clean choruses lol) came mostly through the beautiful clean guitar passages that filled up the atmosphere. these other new songs havent rlly been goin for melody and theyve been tight but ive missed it so its cool having it so prevalent on here both vocally and in the background instrumentation

i actually think Myke's parts here remind me of Pullin Shades or some of the ballad type stuff they did on Animals

I can't help but like this band for some reason but honestly I've been disappointed with the singles they've put out since Barr came back.

I enjoyed their last EP with Gus a lot and thought Different Animals was also good in its own way. Sounds like their sound is changing quite a bit again with this new album.

i think since volumes started back up with Barr (2020?) the singles have gotten softer. holywater is hard as fuck not a single clean in there.

i think this album will be really varied if theres stuff from VIA-era, RnB pop like this, and stuff like holywater

according to them theres stuff harder than pixelate/holywater on the record

i think i heard barr say that the back half of the record feels like hes going through a black hole? lol cant remember where i heard that tho
