Meh, Chris was a powerful singer and this guy is good, but sounds a bit limp wristed and whiny for my taste. Mick Gordon was where?

That didn't even really sound like Monuments
|
| |
I liked the song, nice to see them breaking out of their comfort zone.
|
| |
I liked the music and the screams but the cleans were eh
|
| |
Yeah this is periphery tier of shit
|
| |
"Those cleans are gayer than cum on a mustache."
Using "gay" as an insult is really shit tier. Be better.
|
| |
Do monuments get big hype? maaaaybe around Amanuensis time.
|
| |
Hard agree with WalrusTusk

"That didn't even really sound like Monuments" [2]
song mostly j makes me miss olly and chris
|
| |
I thought this was pretty good tbh
|
| |
I've enjoyed the three singles so far. This one is pretty good, but I'm gonna need to spend more time with it.
|
| |
This was p good

"Mick Gordon was where?" [2]

The Amanuensis is the only really good thing these guys ever made. This is okay, I guess, pretty bland though. Andy has great screams and extremely obnoxious cleans so listening to him really is a love-hate experience.
"Mick Gordon was where?" [3]

Hot take: Chris wasn't a particularly good vocalist and Andy is much better
|
| |
^Hot Take: Chris was a phenomenal vocalist but his lyrics were hit or miss.
|
| |
who needs good lyrics when you have his heavenly voice and melodies
|

"Mick Gordon was where?" [4]
Cleans sound decent when he is more aggressive, but he gets really whiny at times.
|
| |
Maybe Mick just composed it
|
| |
Or helped with mixing.
|
| |
Yeah, drums and vocals are way too high in the mix. Excellent guitar work... If only I could hear it.
|
| |
Definitely miss Chris as the vocalist
Andy has some greasy cleans
|
| |
I read that Mick helped write the synth parts? Someone said he collaborated for the entire album but why would this song say ft Mick then?
|
| |
This maybe comes across as nit-picky, but I really wish Monuments were more clear about what is what. Apparently this is the first single off the new album, which means "Deadnest" and "Animus" are out? That's a bummer because I enjoyed both. And there's some confusion over whether Mick helped with the whole album or just one song.
They also said there would be preorder information dropping with the single, but that hasn't happened. It's stupid and probably doesn't matter, but a little clarity and an idea of where they are in the album writing/producing process would go a long way. It all just feels so unorganized.
|
| |
They just posted that they're finishing drum tracking. I saw the live stream when they released Deadnest and they said it was only a single. They also said that an album may take a while. So I'm surprised that they've even come this far already. Maybe a new album next... Spring?
|
| |
This is pretty meh
|
| |
In terms of making their already tired sound even more dull, they've knocked it out the park
|
| |
'but sounds a bit limp wristed and whiny for my taste'
i hope you're proud of yourself, kid
|
| |
Chris is ass stop rewriting history
|
| |
Chris had terrible lyrics. Especially on their last album.
|
| |
Moreover he just sounds terrible
|
| |
I have no idea how he sounds live, but on album Chris sounds pretty damn strong to me. I'd take his cleans over Andy's any day. Andy definitely has a more versatile and powerful harsh range, though he's given a fairly tame showing of it with these guys thus far.
|
| |
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN THE WORLD WAS JUST A FACT.
|
| |
Need an instrumental version of Phronesis cause the guitars slapped
|
| |
Lmao the vocals are sooooo bad
|
| |
Having spent two weeks with this I'm really enjoying it more and more. Vocals are great, and riffs are brutal which are exactly what I want from Monuments. Don't get everyone's critique of the vocalist.
