The chorus sucks but overall it's a solid song, better than most of what was on the last album
| |
The verse from Courtney seems incredibly forced and out of place here. Also those chord changes in the chorus just don’t work. I know what they were going for, but it just sounds wrong.
| |
Not a good song and I feel bad that they got Courtney involved. Totally agree w/Zackkkk, her placement is shoehorned and does not fit the track whatsoever.
| |
Chorus is so bad
| |
trash
| |
mistook this for new Sufferer material. bummer.
| |
Man I wish
| |
Really wish they didn’t shoehorn cleans in all the damn time now. They gotten progressively worse after Old Souls.
| |
Courtney kills
It on this.
| |
^ agreed. she sounded good placement-wise
song sucks though
| |
she sounds good but her part doesn't fit
| |
a lot doesn’t fit here
| |
Song would be so much better without the typical "4 chord chorus" and clean vocals. The rest of the song kinda slaps.
| |
Old Souls and even Neverbloom is great, this sounds fun but not like they used too
| |
BORING SOUNDS LIKE EVERY OTHER METALCORE SONG IN 2021
| |
Y'all are CRAZY. This slaps.
| |
lmao of course as I thought homegirl singing the chorus sounded like a wanna be Courtney, Courtney immediately pops up on the tv for a feature
| |
Sean is too good of a vocalist for them to keep forcing in those choruses
| |
Not sure I've listened to a ton of this band. Their older stuff any good?
| |
Yea peep Old Souls
| |
Old Souls is peak and they've gotten progressively worse since, most recent album is basically ass, Worlds Apart is pretty good though.
The verses here are solid but the chorus got old really fast and they wasted Courtney which is a genre crime.
| |
Ew what is that second half of the chorus
Made 0 sense. Something that sounds better on paper than to the ear I imagine
| |
my dude can scream. Courtney sounded good too but completely outshined. idk what ya'll are sayin for the most part, this shit riffs hard.
chorus sounded better on second listen
| |
Love all these comments from people who can’t handle a creative chord progression.
| |
Sorry man just doesn’t click for me. Doesn’t make sense to me. I liked the rest of the song. I just find that one moment offputting and off step with the rest of the song
| |
That chorus was a bit by-the-book, phoned in - but I don't else see what they could've done differently other that harmonizing Courtney in (or have her lay some beastly screams under those 'too clean' moments. Not sure why people are complaining about some slightly off-kilter chord progressions - aren't the masses crying out for something new in metalcore?
| |
Man that chorus sounds ripped straight from Sirius Octane. Dude sounds great but the rest was pretty eh.
| |
Sean sounds like a monster as usual...this band really fell off a cliff for me. This is meh, its better then their last album for sure but still this is average imo. Maybe because i once thought this band was one of the top dogs of metalcore I still expect more from them.
| |
Love it personally.
You're all going to have to get used to these choruses and Booka focus moving forward though. No way are they letting her fame from Married At First Sight go to waste by not featuring her.
| |
I agree these guys have some banger heavy parts in their songs but then they get dumbfuck booka to come in and bung it all up
| |
sounds like every other metalcore band x2
| |
who tf is married at first sight
| |
"Not sure why people are complaining about some slightly off-kilter chord progressions - aren't the masses crying out for something new in metalcore?"
There is nothing new or refreshing about that chorus. Its just generic, badly executed, and the song would've been much better without it.

Nik Nocturnal
I refuse to believe this could be anything but a pure banger
| |
Nik Nocturnal is an idiot lol, and also released the most generic sumerian ass album ever
| |
Nik Nocturnal is generally pretty harmless but like almost every metal-centric Youtuber he devolved from somewhat interesting content creator to meme-y cringelord once he started to get a larger following.
| |
I love how in almost every metalcore "new song" video he has the top comment and uses the word "banger" in every one of them
| |
They gotta act like every song they react to is the second coming of jesus christ in order to secure that bag, knaw what I'm saying
| |
If a bag's involved, then I would do the exact same thing ngl
| |
If this was how all metal ore sounded, I’d be a bigger fan of the genre.
You guys are weird.
| |
Last chord change in the chorus is a bit awkward but overall it's a pretty kickass track. This dude's vocals are always on point and I love the way they write riffs. Sounds pretty unique to them, super recognizable.
| |
I agree that Booka's performances generally suck now. I feel she was well utilized on "Worlds Apart" when her vocals were mixed with more spacey ambient production. Ever since then, Make Them Suffer have been gearing her towards big pop choruses that don't work well for them at all.
| |
Band just doesnt have the same ability to craft atomsphere they used to back on Old Souls and earlier. I think the member changes are really showing an impact on the bands sound as a whole. I have to wonder if since they blew up if their label is pushing them in the poppier route. Either way Seans still a beast on vocals and they will keep going on an upward trajectory so good for them
| |
Nick and Sean have always written their music, they just liked it less than the rest of us so now we have this.
| |
I agree with NA that Booka's vocals worked better as another ambient element. The pop choruses feel out of place most of time. It's a bit less obnoxious on this song than on most of the last album though I'd say. The disconnect is slightly less jarring.
| |
Songs alright but it's so disheartening to hear songs from these guys that sound like this. They used to be a really engaging band and their first 3 albums, despite all being very different, were all very well written, but their last album just felt like they sacrificed that exploration for a more accessible sound and it seems like they're continuing to move in that direction with this new song.
| |
Also I'll be happy when a new core song drops and the top comment isn't Nik Nocturnal uncritically saying "OMG BANGER" like he does on every single god damn new song that drops.
The worst thing about him is that he's inspired a shit tonne of core dudes to do essentially the same thing as him so now the entire comment thread of songs like this is complete cringe.
| |
-There is nothing new or refreshing about that chorus. Its just generic, badly executed, and the song would've been much better without it.-
this is a mildly ridiculous comment.
| |
? Do you like the chorus lol
| |
To more kindly rephrase Jeet’s opinion, I don’t find musically unjustified, awkward key changes to be innovative. Just awkward and musically unjustified. Like pressing a wrong note on the keyboard and saying “lets add that!” but without proper compensation in the rest of the composition to allow it to feel interesting and cohesive.
| |
For the record, I think the song is pretty cool, but that one note do bother me a lil. I don’t find the rest of that chorus or song to be bad at all
| |
The chorus is awful and shouldn't be in the song agreed. They gotta stop forcing these poppy sounding choruses in, but I know they won't
| |
Yea it does feel forced, I don’t hate it but could’ve done without it. The riffage at the beginning of the song was sick and wish they kept more that pace throughout more of the song
| |
Don't bore us
Skip the chorus
| |
Songs still boring agreed
