Hail Spirit Noir's Mannequins

2021-05-21 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 9 Comments
Greek shapeshifters Hail Spirit Noir discard their progressive robes to celebrate their 10th anniversary with a one-off, emotional, horror-like and disco-driven album, Mannequins. The record is slated for an September 10th release on Agonia Records. All music was recorded by Haris and Sakis, with vocals by Cons Marg and story concept by Theoharis. The album was mixed and mastered by Dimitris Douvras.

Hail Spirit Noir Album's fifth album marks a full-blown & daring plunge into a synthwave-meets-sci-fi pop environment. This transformation is devoid of metal or rock instrumentation, and is highly reminiscent of an '80s horror movie soundtrack.

"This album completes the band’s shift in the '80s era," Haris comments. "Even though we used loads of synths and production techniques of that era, it is still a modern album to our ears. We wanted to write a musical background to a horror story Theoharis and myself had on mind. We wrote lots of new material but we also remixed a few tracks and ideas from our entire discography. Mannequins is a sci-fi pop / horror synthwave album. Different as it may sound, we believe it still echoes the spirit and essence of HSN. Just drop the needle in your vinyl and dance."

Mannequins tracklist:

1. 12-31-1985: Night Shift
2. Against Your Will, My Blade

4. 12-31-1985: Night Shift II

Jeez, so many quality releases coming up. 'Horror synthwave... disco-driven...' hmmmm if anything, these guys can pull it off.

It goes without saying that it will be quite different from their previous work, even if Eden In Reverse already has a rather synth-ish approach.

I have met Theoharis, we're family acquaintances, he's an awesome person and very down to earth guy.

I believe this is going to be another quality record, as all their previous ones have been.

This isn't usually my thing, but I expect it'll be pretty nifty given the band's track record. I expect a good Halloween album...
