Dragonforce's Parody Album

2021-02-23 by Mabbitt | 31 Comments
During the COVID-19 quarantine period, power metallers Dragonforce have taken to streaming on Twitch to keep themselves busy and interact with fans. A theme during their live streams involves the band writing and recording parody songs in the style of other bands, such as Rammstein, Amon Amarth, blink-182, Nightwish, and more. During the most recent stream, a collab recording with Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick, Herman Li announced that they would be entering the studio to professionally record and release these songs as an album later this year. He also mentioned that they plan to begin writing the next proper Dragonforce album after that.

The announcement can be heard at the 23:16 mark:

Huh, a parody album by the parody of power metal itself?

"yea from the headline I expected it was someone parodying dragonforce, not the other way around..."

I wasn't entirely sure what to call it. They didn't even say it was a parody album themselves, but it's clear that's what it is if you listen to any of the songs.

edit: added 's to the title, I think that helps clear it up.

I actually really enjoyed the blink-182 style song with the guy from Bowling for Soup singing. It was barely even a parody, it just sounded like classic-era blink.

edit: based on your ratings, I can't imagine you'd care about that hahaha. The songs are pretty funny though.

I don't follow streamers much but Herman is a funny dude and his fan interaction is really wholesome. I probably won't bother with the album but it's good to see these guys living their best lives and finding new ways to entertain even during lockdown.

I really wish more bands could do this. Imagine Cannibal Corpse parodying Foo Fighters, or Steel Panther goofin on Nighwish. All during a live stream..
