Ken Hensley dead at 75

2020-11-05 by manosg EMERITUS | 14 Comments
Former Uriah Heep keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Ken Hensley passed away on November 4. His brother, Trevor Hensley, shared the news in a Facebook post, today and noted that Ken will be cremated in a private ceremony in Spain.

Hensley was born in Plumstead, south-east London, on 24 August 1945, and was mostly known for being a founding member of influential hard rock band, Uriah Heep. Ken left the band in 1980 as a result of being unhappy with the musical direction the Londoners had chosen. From 1985, he lived in semi-retirement in St Louis, Missouri, making a few appearances with W.A.S.P. (Headless Children) and Cinderella, among others.

Still haven't checked a lot of his Uriah or solo work, but the stuff I've heard is quality. Shame.

easily the core of the best era of the band. he wrote most if not all of their best/biggest songs, but of course Byron and Box get more credit

RIP. Uriah Heep was never quite the same musically after he left. And yes, this comes too soon after Lee Kerslake.
