Progressive brutal death metal outfit


What. Progressive?

That's how Willowtip labels the band. It's probably got to do with the previous album, where they immersed themselves in retro prog DM. I thought twice before throwing "progressive", but the fact that the label insinuates it might indicate that the album may hold some surprises.

Their last album was one half knuckle-dragging BDM and one half tech prog DM so that's prolly why. And they've always had progressive elements in their tunes despite the presentation so ye

The thing to remember here is "progressive" is a relative term in my opinion. They obviously aren't a prog metal band, but as far as brutal death metal goes they're about as progressive as it gets with the small guitar flourishes, odd time signatures at spots, and jazz-influenced drumming. I would put Wormed in the same category as well.

Anyways the new track is excellent, I'm liking it better than most of the stuff from their last couple of albums.

Progressive and jazzy Metal have always been at the foundations of their music, that’s what makes them so great.
