I’m excited for their 20 year tour of Make Yourself, but not for that song
| |
what da fuck
did they find a Roland Jupiter 8 and say "yeah, this is our sound now"
| |
do I even have it in me to listen to this
| |
The wife and I are gonna catch them on their tour! Shit's got us feeling old AF.
Also, when did they turn into a New Wave band? I'm digging the Lost Boys homage though, even if it is all a bit on the nose.
| |
It's like Brandon got possessed with a different entity and now he is a pop singer.
| |
Great, they sound like Maroon 5 now. I am lost for words.
| |
Am I the only one who really digs this? It fuckin slaps
| |
Boring.
| |
Fuck that was bad, my work mate, even told me to "turn that cockrock shit off". He couldn't believe it was Incubus.
We quickly put on Science to rectify the situation.
| |
Okay. As much of an Incubus fan as I am, it's really hard for me to like this. Even at their dullest Incubus always made sure to be at least a little different, but now all that separates them from the rest is Brendon's voice.
Also, the director for this music video has a very appropriate name.
| |
The contrast in hype between the YT comments and here is hilarious. I lose interest in this band after Morningview.
| |
:/ ehh
| |
I like it, reminds me of some of their funkier tracks, like Anti-Gravity love Song
| |
^I agree. It's not that different from that style or even Are You In? but with more production.
| |
that single art prevented me from pressing play
| |
I like it, actually.
| |
Terrible. And I used to really like Incubus.
| |
It doesn't sound remotely like Anti-Gravity and/or Are You In? - it's far more 80's influenced without the tightness of the aforementioned tracks. It's so lethargic and wish-washy production wise. Incubus have really disappointed me for a while now.
| |
It's catchy.
| |
CosmicLie imo
| |
Zing.
| |
Catchy X2.
| |
This seems like it should almost be like a Young the Giant song or something. A band like that could have pulled off a song like this, not Incubus.
| |
Gone are the days of interesting rock Incubus songs. I'll pass on the pop direction. Brandon's melodies and lyrics just aren't the same anymore
| |
Trying to go for that "throwback 80's vibe". And they're not even doing it well, or interesting like synth wave/vapor wave. Incubus are clearly lost on where to take their musical direction. This just sounds like throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.
| |
"did they find a Roland Jupiter 8 and say "yeah, this is our sound now""
Yeah right, try a microkorg
| |
The band is in fuckin denial. When they released the Trust fall EP (side A) ... which never had a side B... they said that one of the songs on it was one of the heaviest songs they've ever written.. What , I mean the EP wasn't horrible but it was nothing heavier than at least one song on like their first 5 albums.
2:30 thru 3:30 was actually really cool, but the chorus was a little cookie cutter. Meh this band won't ever be good again.
| |
Yeah it's mindblowing how they were such brilliant songwriters early in their career and now they seem like talentless hacks who don't have the first clue
| |
that's going to be a wtf from me dawg
| |
Ya'll are a bit extreme... this ain't that bad at all.
| |
I think the reason it’s pretty bad to me is just because it’s such a pale shadow of what these guys once were. It’s actually emotional because I used to love their music. Now they’re floundering and completely uninspired. 8 was fucking horrible. And what the hell kindof an album title is that? Are they really so emotionally and intellectually removed from the music that the best title they could come up with was the chronological number in their discography?
| |
Yea, 8 sucks. I couldn't make it through that album. This song is better though. It's still not my beloved Morning View, but that Incubus has been gone.
| |
I would even be ok with Light Grenades quality or hell, even If Not Now, When quality (which I thought was actually ok and in hindsight, it could have been much worse!).
| |
8 is the only one I can't tolerate.
| |
Exact same. Truth be told: I couldn’t finish it either. And I bought the CD lol.
| |
I mean, even INNW had In the Company of Wolves (amazing), t/t, Adolescents and a few other decent tracks. And most others were just meh, but not terrible (definitely one or two that were bad though).
| |
Yea, I've enjoyed INNW quite a bit. It's been a while though, so I can't remember specifics.
| |
I'm going to listen to it again. I have the imprint in my mind of it being excellent.
| |
Anyone remember that terrible acoustic album they released? My god, what have they turned into.
| |
Is the singer still topless
| |
This is terrible... Even for low Incubus standards.
| |
Was just listening to Morningview and Make Yourself this morning, this is just upsetting.
| |
This is lame compared to those two, fa sho.
| |
So, ummm, this actually kind of grew on me...
| |
You're just saying that to make yourself feel better for seeing them live
| |
Please stop bumping this, it’s a depressing reminder of what once was.
| |
Haha! Actually, I'm not. The song isn't like any version of Incubus I thought I'd ever see, but it's kinda catchy.
