orange man bad?
|
| |
pretty cool for a sum 41 song in 2019 i guess
|
| |
Sum 41 continue to be the stoic voice of the people.
|
| |
Hey, these guys are Canadian, they can't talk shit on our president! They'd better learn their place and leave the hard-hitting commentary on American politics to Ministry and Eminem
|
| |
That didn't work well for Stray From the Path...
|
| |
yuup i'm really keen to hear more politically-charged shit from people whose political analysis is so shallow that they still mainly blame the president and not focus on the party that supports them, or the democrats who fail to oppose him in any meaningful way (or use the trump thing as an excuse to not bother with much more real policy beyond "hey, you want the status quo from a couple of years back, right?)
they seem to think trump is simultaneously a total dumbass and also that he's pretty much responsible for all the decisions
can't really blame people for pulling out the "orange man bad" meme still given that all liberals seem to do
|
| |
Finally a decent single from these guys
|
| |
targeting the age category their peak-era fans are in now?
|
| |
Let's rage against a pawn of the state and support more power for the state.
|
| |
You sure they're not criticizing Trudeau?
|
| |
Meh
|
| |
Okay song, won't listen again.
|
| |
remember when these guys cut off bush's head
|
| |
Soros funded drivel. His ire should be towards Avril anyway.
|
| |
Anyone else think this sounds a little like Linkin Park's "No More Sorrow"?
|
| |
if you need subtitles in your music video just so people know what's going on, you're not doing it right.
|
| |
Not bad! The first listenable new single from Sum 41.
|
| |

Yeah you seem unbiased
|
| |
while you were listening to Sum 41, I was studying Crush 40
|
| |
Not hyped at all for this record anymore.
Only one great song out of all 4 singles. Pass.
|
| |
Thought this was quite decent. The intro was great, the chorus is great, and the bridge is great. However the verses seemed like they could've used a different vocal style; it felt as if a melody was forced for the sake of potential radio play. Sum 41 are at a point where they don't need to conform to that anymore.
Now for the video. I can't tell if this is supposed to rip-off or be an homage to The Waldo Moment. It's TOO obvious that it's a clear rip-off, but not everyone watches Black Mirror - and the episode's commentary back then certainly can be retooled nowadays for a modern political commentary. For those who might feel bitter that the director/band decided to take this kind of political angle...this band kind of has always done this with their music. Sure, it's a little too obvious at this point - but I also get the feeling that the band doesn't really seem to care anymore. They wrote/produced this new record themselves (same with "13 Voices"), so if they want to do that, then it really is what it is.

| |
I like it when conservatives start crying over bands being political when the bands in question have always had political songs going back 10-15-20+ years. Hell it even happened with Ozzy Osbourne, conveniently forgetting what War Pigs was about. I dunno if it's because conservatives are so stupid that they don't notice it with the older songs, they never liked the band anyway and use it as an excuse to troll, or it's just that liberal discourse in music is no longer allowed in 2019.
|
| |
New songs aren't bad. Def. better than most or all of their last album.
|
| |
Politically charged lyrics are great but only if they actually have something interesting to say. Just whining about shit is lame, which this song comes across as. Black Honey and Death from Above (I'm on a Thrice binge atm lol) come to mind on how to do it right. Or tbh much of Thrice's disco in general.
|
| |
These guys feel so outdated, but I’ve never liked/listened to them tbf.
|
| |
"liberal discourse in music is no longer allowed in 2019."
LOL very poz'd
|
| |
@MuhNamesTyler
well done sherlock, you worked out that somebody expressing a political opinion might be biased. how did you figure that one out? (for the record i'm leftist not a conservative)
@DreamAgain
agreed. Propagandhi and Rage Against the Machine are good examples too (I only appreciate the latter more and more these days)
--
i'm not bitter that bands are political, i just wish they did it in more interesting ways aside from the same shit i've heard a million times

Possible names for parody punk bands featuring the current POTUS:
President Orange
Trum-45
Good Brains
The BurgerKing
Rich Kid on McD
Circular Jerk
At The Drive-Thru
Goldshower
|
| |
lol!
|
| |
Horrible as expected.
|
| |
I prefer my political music to be more intelligent and thoughtful, but also sometimes I just want something angry sounding and simple. This song will do in a pinch as the latter.
|
| |
I dont see why complaining about trump is any different from complaining about Bush, every pop punk band has something like that
|
| |
Kind of surprised it isn't terrible. It's not great either, but weirdly decent. The message is delivered unimaginatively, but there's a part of me that misses all the anti-bush punk of days gone even if it was mostly childish and terrible. Idk maybe I'm losing control of my life so fast that anything that arouses my nostalgia is somehow enjoyable. Oh god is it already happening?
|
| |
Intro sounded pretty good but then it just nose-dived
|
| |
@leo
shut up
|
| |
Honestly my favourite part of the current wave of political music isn't necessarily the quality of the music, but the conservative tears and crybullying that has happened as a result of artists like Sum 41, Stray From the Path, Neckbeard Deathcamp and co.
|
| |
cartoon dude looks more like Bill Clinton tbh.
|
| |
"Soros funded drivel"
This comment was satire right?
|
| |
i actually kinda liked this. reminds me of chuck
|
| |
Song and band is ass
