Decent as always

Just decent though. I’m starting to want to see more from them. This has a bit more of a unique sound from them, but man the evolution of their songwriting has been disappointing.
Although you can tell AJ is happy now, so that could make for an interesting album from them.

Lol, they declined after Reach for the Sun however the new stuff is great. I get what you mean tho, band has so much potential to produce another classic
|
| |
Oh yeah, I still really enjoy their post RFTS stuff and arguably enjoy War Paint just as much. Golden Recrod and the self titled are still both great, but if I’m gonna listen to the band, those are never the albums I go to, if that makes any sense.

If it's the same drummer as the last two albums I have very little interest.
|
| |
It's over boys, they've gone pop
|

war paint > reach for the sun
|
| |
this sounds like a b-side off that Trophy Eyes album that got so much hate
and much like that album, this song is pretty great
|
| |
Okay song. Don't like their new stuff
|
| |
Just checked it out. Man his songwriting just never progressed. He's writing the same fucking songs from 2009 but just more and more boring every album.
There's a pile of songs by this band that I'll always have a deep attachment to but it can't be fun to just keep pumping out the same crap.
|
| |
I enjoyed it, liked the video too.
|
| |
Point, what don't you like about the drummer? He's pretty great.
|
| |
If you hadn’t told me this was The Dangerous Summer I wouldn’t even have known it was them.
Song is top 40 trash

@Crawl
I believe he's a Youtube guy they recruited? I just think he's so overly busy, overcomplicates every part he works on. Their first two albums have fantastic drumming, unique patterns without drawing attention. But this guy just wants to be the centre of attention, I hate that kind of drumming.
|
| |
It doesn't really feel like it is overcomplicated. I personally like when a pop-punk drummer tries out some unconventional stuff and to be a bit of a show-off doesn't hurt much. For example, I suppose you could use the intro beat in This Is Life as an example? I could see how it may irritate someone, but I love it.
|
| |
dont like this at all :/
|

@Crawl
Naw, see in that song the drum intro is supposed to stand out, like in Reach for the Sun. He keeps the beat pretty steadily throughout as well so I don't have a problem with that one. Think more like "Into the Comfort," where there's a steady backbeat but he's so finnicky that the drums take attention away from the melody and steadiness of the song. I think it's the toms that really drive me nuts.
