Actor Ben Stiller has revived his 1980s teen punk band Capital Punishment to release a new EP in November. The first song released, a re-recording of "Confusion", is available to stream below.

Capital Punishment's new EP This Is Capital Punishment is released on 23 November.

Link doesn't seem to work, had to go the CapturedTracks profile on SoundCloud to listen to this. I knew Stiller had some punk influence. Pretty cool shit. Sounds like some Bauhaus/Type O Negative type of stuff with the re-recording though, more on the goth rock side than hardcore.

Okay, I appreciate that they went for more of an old-school lo-fi, almost shapeless kind of tangling post-punk-ish punk, but this really sounds like nothing worth anyone's while. This is "post-post-punk's decomposed body".

It's interesting, but you can see why the band didn't go anywhere. Decent at best, and a nice novelty with the Stiller factor, but I doubt we'll see them at Download Festival any time soon.

"further proof that all post punk is irredeemable"

because a band formed by a professional actor would be a summary of an entire genre

Ben Stiller in a punk band, hmm it's tough to picture that, but hey didn't he do an episode in Friends where he was freaking mad at people "stepping" on his toe?

Now I can picture him in a punk band.

Seriously, awesome news.

Well, synth pop was the only thing that I could hear actually. A bit of post-punk maybe, but no all that much.

Well @Mabbitt it's more along the lines of post-punk but that's still technically a genre of punk. Their only album is like a mesh of punk, post-punk, no wave and bad British accents.
