first peep, then fredo, then xxx, then mac, now this. tragic

I thought this said "Misery Signals" at first and damn near had a heart attack.
| |
ok?
| |
felt the same way about the lyrics lol, it's a fun song nevertheless
good for them !
| |
I think it's cool that bands can acknowledge that they've progressed as human beings and some of their older material doesn't resonate with them anymore. It's risky, but I admire that - especially when it's something that turned a lot of people on to the band in the first place.
| |
best song ever though
| |
Just change the fuckin lyric bro
| |
you can change that one lyric, but you can't change the entire theme of women insulting and fighting each other for a teenage love -- you might as well write a completely different song
| |
"I thought this said "Misery Signals" at first and damn near had a heart attack."
Fucking same lmao
| |
I thought for nearly ten years after the song came out that she was singing "Once a whore you're nothing more / I'm sorry that I'LL never change".
| |
A fun song and a fan favorite, but I can understand where she's coming from. Glad I at least saw them perform it live once before retiring it.
| |
their new music is utter elementary garbage and sounds like crap live and she isn't that good at doing the old songs live anymore anyways so it all works out.
| |
PC gone crazy. Every c**t is too sensitive.
| |
says PC gone crazy. Asterixes out a rude word. lol
| |
People change, people grow, this isn't news and shouldn't be a bit deal
| |
''I thought this said "Misery Signals" at first and damn near had a heart attack.''
Same man lol
| |
Damn thought that said Misery Signals. Holy fuck.
| |
PC culture strikes again
| |
stupid misogynistic lyrics. Absolutely awful.
Always loved the drumming in this though.
| |
Not super familiar with the song but like couldn't she just change the line to something else?
| |
EVery time I regret doing something I did in the past I also too blame PC culture for any personal growth I have made since the age of 13
| |
This is PC for the sake of being PC. Could people not just accept that this was a nostalgia piece with lyrics written by a teenage girl and take it at face value?
| |
jeezo fuck
| |
It’s the creator making the decision though, there wasn’t significant pressure from the fanbase to retire it.
| |
and she's 29 now lol, if I had to regurgitate the shit I was writing at 16 in front of 15,000 people every night I'd die a little inside too
| |
I’m sorry but the song has been retired from their repertoire for like a couple years now? this ain’t news guys
| |
I wouldn't want to read shite poems I made aged 12 out to hundreds of people every night would you?
| |
interesting point, pretty sure the narration of the song is meant to be a cautionary tale (don't be like me ordeal). But between the amalgamation of more developed language sensitivity in 2018 and just the general individual maturing as a human (if your same person at 29 as you are 17 in most cases, there is an issue)-it makes sense they stop this, and I say this as a fan of the song.
| |
Great band getting wise about their shittier older songs. Five out of five
| |
Make no mistake, it is a shitty song. Just means they play something better from AL instead.
| |
"I’m sorry but the song has been retired from their repertoire for like a couple years now? this ain’t news guys"
No it hasn't, I saw them two months ago and they played it.
I kind of liked what they were doing with it too, changing up the musical style to fit their After Laughter sound.
This was never a favorite song of mine from them and more to power 'em if they wanna retire it because of the lyrics, but like ... idk if anyone was ever taking that line at face value you have more issues than just a Paramore song.
| |
I'm suspecting that if Trent Reznor stops playing closer, the female fans will stop going to his concerts.
| |
I actually am, it's one of the things I hate from my personality
| |
They hardly ever played it live anymore anyways, they didn't play it when I saw them in June. It isn't PC culture, she's spoken about how that line and the overall subject of the song makes her cringe now. In an interview the producer brought up that one lyric saying she didn't like it and that it really didn't represent her feelings a long time before this whole PC culture conversation even started being such a buzzword. To her it's just a cringey song about hating a boyfriend's ex simply because she dated her boyfriend.
| |
The irony of this is that hoes loved this song
| |
it's such a banger who cares about the lyrics
| |
Shout out to whichever mod added quotes around Misery Business in the article title, hopefully now no one will think it says Misery Signals and damn near have a heart attack
| |
this song>misery signals
| |
Pc culture has been in the lexicon fur like 30+ years now
| |
sigh
| |
thinking
| |
Ok? no reason to randomly give in to PC culture by retiring one of your biggest hits. and if it means that much, don't play it ever again, but "for a very long time" implies you'll play it again. literally makes no sense
| |
damn sjw
| |
i'm sure they'll play it again. respect their decision but it was a great song to hear live
| |
people really crying over the lyrics, big pussy shit
| |
BREAKING NEWS
| |
If they are retiring their only good song (that doesn't feature Aaron 'Why Am I Wasting My Talent on Paramore? Oh yeah, I Owe Hayley For Her Features' Weiss) then why don't they just call it a day entirely?
| |
I think this news is foreshadowing more nudes
| |
LMAO at everyone blaming "PC culture" for this
| |
just sing "once adored, you're nothing more, i'm sorry that'll never change". issue solved. fans won't get pissed and the social justice idiots of the world won't get pissed /s
| |
^Genius, give this man ghost writing credits asap
| |
pc culture claims another victim !!!!!!!!!
| |
literally no one is complaining about the lyrics, it was a decision the band made
| |
This was literally one of the first songs I learned on guitar. rip
| |
it is called being an artist and artistic control and growing up and becoming a mature adult. so many people ready to get up in arms.... stop watching alex jones so you don't die of ignorance please.
| |
I'm sure it's also a little that their tired of playing the song, I know a lot of bands grow to hate playing the song that they're most known for
| |
This is stupid lol
| |
"I'm sure it's also a little that their tired of playing the song, I know a lot of bands grow to hate playing the song that they're most known for"
Imagine what Metallica feels like lol
| |
if metallica were pissed about it, they should write new songs that are good so they can play those too
| |
pc culture wins again. SAD! #7YearsAParawhore
| |
😤😤😤
| |
It is PC culture that seems to be influencing Haley. There are plenty of artists that are embarrassed by their earlier works but they still play them. Paramore obviously has the right to do what they want, but I feel like this is a disservice to the fans of the band and that song. It did help put them on the map.
| |
lmao
| |
PC Culture was invented and popularized by Bill Gates in the 80’s.
| |
Bill Gates is my son
| |
mac culture
| |
*big mac culture

I knew this shit wasn't going to last: https://youtu.be/eyytxJBroro
