band are capable of great things, can be hit and miss with albums, but if it's good, it's good

The Rover isn't special, but after El Pintor I expect this to be at least good.
| |
I am finding this song to be a real grower. It's really good after a few listens which isn't usually how I interact with music. It has a kind of sinister quality to it that I'm picking up on after repeated listens and examination of the lyrics. The chorus sounds kind of dark in an ugly (good kind of ugly) way.

| |
this slaps
| |
it's fine. hope they will at least pull one or two tracks like The Lighthouse.
| |
Yep, it's an Interpol song alright.
| |
it's good ig
| |
Not as good as I was hoping, but it should be enjoyable from time to time
| |
Interpol albums have always been pretty short so out of 13 songs having 2 interludes might be a good thing
| |
oh shiiiiiiiiit man after El Pintor?? i’ll check this but regardless,,, hope this or this next mom jeans lp is gonna give me enough motivation to start writing something longer mm after EP and 4 years i have faithful expectations personally
| |
El Pintor was excellent.
This is decent and who knows it might grow on me some more...
| |
New Interpol is always good.
| |
decent tune
these guys have always been one of the better joy division cover bands
| |
Joy Division comparisons are really stupid.
| |
Yeah. Joy Division comparisons come across as not really knowing Post Punk all that well.
| |
i don't know shit about post punk but i know an ian curtis impersonator when i hear one :D
| |
Not sure I really care about this band anymore, hope the album is decent for people who want to hear it though.
| |
"i don't know shit about post punk but i know an ian curtis impersonator when i hear one :D"
my boi tom ily but no
| |
"interlude 1" and "interlude 2"
didn't they have songs with those titles on their first album, or am I imagining they're someone else?
| |
You're thinking of Obstacles 1 and 2 from their first.
| |
no, they never did songs named obstacle, it was interlude, or something like antithesis 1 and 2
| |

lol yeah obstacle 1 and obstacle 2, two of the group’s most popular songs man lol
| |
Yeah I never understood the JD comparisons.
This band is better anyway.

They are certainly not better than Joy Division for their discography, but comparable on their first record. Not in sound, but in quality. But also, I get the Joy Division comparisons if you listen to Joy Division's song Ceremony. It's extremely melodic compared to a lot of JD's previous work and I could see the case for someone saying Interpol is taking JD's sound on Ceremony to it's logical conclusion on their debut record.

Jesus, I had these guys mixed up with Bloc Party
| |
Bloc Party don't have songs called 'Interlude' on their debut either though?!
| |
TOTBL is a stone-cold classic and an absolute banger.
| |
Must have mixed them up with someone else
| |
The debut Bloc Party album is a god
| |
yes the first track really kicks it into full swing and it rules
| |
Fuck yes. Thought they'd struggle after Carlos D leaving but its been the exact opposite.

You fools! By arguing over Joy Division and Interpol you only make me stronger. You grow into dispute, while my ego and musical taste superiority complex grows thicker by the minute. Soon I'll have enough to overthrow all of the world's music and mildly uncomfortable, underproduced, tangle-bass, melodramatic, shouty post-punk will reign supreme! Mwuahahahahahahahaha
| |
post-post punk
| |
Like it! Nice guitar sound
