Single is good enough that I'm more excited about a new PJ album in 2018 than I ever thought I'd be. There's a certain viciousness lurking that has been absent since... probably before Backspacer? The song actually reminds me of No Code, which I wasn't expecting at all. Eddie's voice sounds amazing.

It's definitely Vedder. Almost seems like he's channeling Chris Cornell at points, which is... fitting.

Pearl Jam have been pretty political for their entire careers, particularly Vedder, though it is not always reflected in the music. If there ever was a good time for political opinions in rock music, it is now. Get over it.

I think vedder is like so great because he like believes in human rights and like is not shallow at all and like refused to make music videos and like overexpose the band, and totally like donated all his money to people in need, except the last part which is also the most important one..

The problem is that these bands think they are being edgy with it, when in reality they're just echoing things most people have already known/believed for a while so it just ends up being cringe.

when you compare this political song to stuff like Do the Evolution or Worldwide Suicide, it's quite striking. This song thinks it has bite but it has no teeth.

Pearl Jam donated about 300k to my hometown a few years ago. I'm pretty sure that hasn't been their only large donation. They do put their money where their mouth is.
