Better than the last one but meh.

I thought their other self-titled record wasn't as bad as everybody said at the time. There were some catchy songs on there. Also Weiland's solo album 'Happy in Galoshes' from 2008 is super underrated. There are some awesome songs on there. I recommend any STP fan or fans of Scott's voice to check that out.

doesn't sound terrible, interested to see what the album will be like.
|

solid, no more no less

Album art looks like the tattoo I'd find on the lower back of a common whore
|
| |
eh its alright. didn’t blow me away but wasn’t really bad either
|
| |
Not too bad, enjoyed both new tracks so far. The DeLeo bros still have it...
|
| |
I really wish the DeLeos didn't feel the need to drag the STP name through the mud repeatedly. They are good songwriters and I would embrace any other project they felt like making. I guess they had a bad experience with their Talk Show project and decided they would never do it again.
Weiland was too deeply ingrained in my idea of STP for me to ever accept this nonsense.

Roll me under
Roll me under
Roll me under, I'm not afraid
|

Agreed WatchIt they should rather continue with Army of Anyone than with STP. But I'm glad they still are productive and have fun writing new stuff.
|
| |
This is gonna be so ehhh man
|
| |
preemptive RIP to new singer.. band is a revolving door of death..
STP = Singers That Perish,,

I liked you comment so much that I'd like your comment, but I can't because it's not facebook.

I actually kind of dug the stuff they did with Chester.
This isn't bad but holy shit Gutt sounds a lot like a young Scott and I don't know if that's good or bad. I'm leaning towards bad because he's obviously never, ever going to be embraced like Scott was, especially if it appears he's trying to imitate his vocal style.
Not bad but dudes...just retire the STP name. It's never gonna be the same. I understand from a business perspective why you wouldn't change it, but it's kind of fucked and a bit insulting to the memory of your dead friend. (Same goes to you Alice in Chains).
|
| |
This is nice enough but they really need to lose the STP name. And hiring an imitation of Scott really cheapens the whole thing in general.
|
| |
I am sadly done with these guys.
|
| |
Pretty sure DeLeo bros. + Kretz have always been STP's core, Scott and Chester contributed but the majority of it was the band. Gutt is no different in respect to William Duvall, they can pull an approximation of their bands' former iconic singers but have their own unique stylings, but musically the band is the same guys it's always been. Both of the singles are pretty much better than anything on the last self-titled at least.
|
| |
Umm I don't know man, I was stunned the first time I heard Duvall, like from minute one I was sold, Gutt though, nope, not feeling it.
|
| |
This sucks
|
| |
Like this two's more than last album with Scott. Hope this will be at least 3.0
|

^
Unfortunately I have to agree... Apart from the misstep with Chester the S/T with Scott was the only STP record I didn't enjoy at all. Pretty sure this will be an improvement over the last two efforts.
|
| |
I kind of agree that the new singer sounds similar to SW especially on the song 'Meadow' which I believe was a tribute to Scott (as Weiland is the dutch word for meadow). I don't think their voices are quite so alike on this track though.
Back on topic, the song is pretty average to me.
|
| |
Dig most STP. Dug the Chester EP.
I’m game for another go I guess.

"Umm I don't know man, I was stunned the first time I heard Duvall, like from minute one I was sold, Gutt though, nope, not feeling it."
Yeah, like no one will ever be Staley of course but it feels like Duvall is the next best singer they could possibly have
|
| |
I'll support anything STP does, just like AiC
