I don't care much about the band but come on, free speech and all that.
| |
thought this was gonna be a new single because of all the recent news article names
| |
This is fine, not concerning at all.
| |
Not really censorship of free speech, the board of directors don't have to grant anyone a permit. Still, it's dumb they pulled the permit after they granted one.
| |
Absolute corruption. Cult of personality!
| |
Also, fuck the government.
| |
There's been a giant outpour of anti government videos since trump got elected.. No one else has complained about being censored.. maybe they can try shooting a more partisan video and see the irony in going through a board of directors in a supposed anti-establishment video.. bubblegum politics from a bubblegum band
| |
no one cares
| |
songs about politics in punk in 2017 fuuuuuuuk
| |
Now is when they bring out their punkest side and record the video anyway.
| |
"songs about politics in punk in 2017 fuuuuuuuk"
Yeah, weird. Who would think to be influenced by politics in such a politically unstable time in history.
| |
If you're going to back out, say no right away and own it you pricks.
| |
Punk rock band called "Rise Against" considered too "anti-government"
Who woulda thunk it?
| |
"Yeah, weird. Who would think to be influenced by politics in such a politically unstable time in history."
so how does that prove that still singing about politics is not a fucking stupid thing to do. please die.
| |
so how does that prove that still singing about politics is not a fucking stupid thing to do.
i think punk rock just isnt your thing, mang...
| |
how dare people use an artistic medium and form of expression to express things they care about
| |
"please die."
Overreact much? For what it's worth I love politically charged music. Gives it a purpose outside of everyday, mundane relationship themes.
| |
thick skulls of punk
| |
fkn bow down
| |
the song prob sucks ass anyway
| |
Fuck politics and this mind controlling society. Rise against rules.
| |
politically charged punk was cool when punk was born, doesn't matter in which era, but when a band USES AN ARTISTIC MEDIUM AND FORM OF EXPRESSION TO EXPRESS THE SAME FUCKING THINGS THEY JUUUUUST CARE ABOUT from year to year that shit is laughable
| |
yeah fuck chores! i'm not gonna wear my fucking retainer! Mum cant make me do shit
| |
also don't talk to me anymore you fuckin punk bums
| |
"when a band USES AN ARTISTIC MEDIUM AND FORM OF EXPRESSION TO EXPRESS THE SAME FUCKING THINGS THEY JUUUUUST CARE ABOUT from year to year that shit is laughable"
As opposed to singing about things they don't care about? And politics change year to year too, political music now isn't what it was in 2001 which isn't what it was in the 90s, etc. etc.
| |
band used to be awesome :/
| |
stupid actions from the gov
| |
why is everyone implying that i meant that politics is a taboo subject in music lol. i'm just saying that musicians who do it are unoriginal shit for brain populists
| |
K dot is the only subversive artist this generation needs
| |
yeah EVERY musician who dares to talk about politics is unoriginal gotcha
| |
well obv there are exceptions, if we judge by ideas i appreciate those who do it subtly, if we judge by music only ofc even punk bands do it well
| |
so what ur saying is that there is no basis to everything you've said so far?
| |
because bar juvenile morbid extreme metal lyrics, relationships and mawkish romantic bs and pseudo enlightened philosophical themes there isn't much left to talk about. Plus reminding people to scrutinize and keep the gov accountable isnt a bad thing
| |
sint just shut up omg
and who tf r u talkin to all this time ballz
| |
anyone who will listen i guess
| |
honestly why do people still care to listen, gonna die a self-centered miserable piece of shit egoist and all is cool
| |
Rise Against is garbage, but denying free speech is even more garbage. If they originally granted the permit, they should have kept true to it, as long as no property was being destroyed.
| |
drop snide remarks ugh
| |
I mean, given diy punk's attitude towards, like, the man and shit overall, Rise Against aka platninum-selling/no longer diy punk rock band is prolly the least of PA Ave's issues so
| |
If they were really punk they'd film it there anyway.
| |
that's actually a good point, now they can prove their authenticity
| |
Who cares, band sucks and should quit while they're behind
| |
band should Appeal to Reason with board of directors, stop being a Sufferer and become a Witness..
| |
They shouldn't do anything except cease to exist
| |
e for effort butcher
| |
oh, i was hoping for A for apathy.. shucks!
| |
Stupid failing fake punk band Rise Against thinks they're "anti-government"... Sad!
| |
thought this was gonna be a new single because of all the recent news article names [2]
| |
Just green screen it, problem solved
| |
They should just make another video with furries tbh
| |
just want to do a good video rise against i do not know
| |
honestly glad, less ra music videos, the better
| |
also lol at these morons for making a big deal out of this like just go the fuck somewhere else
| |
ohhh man I'm heated fuck these guys
| |
man there's some serious poe's law here
| |
usa for oppression communist style, gj
| |
and y'all said trump would be a one term president
| |
"bubblegum politics from a bubblegum band"
p much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w211KOQ5BMI

One of the most ironic characteristics about a lot of these punk bands is that they sing about how the government is essentially corrupt and evil, and yet they all support the democratic party, whose main goal is to expand the government. Its like they don't really know what they believe in.
This isn't a violation of freedom of speech though. The board of directors has every right to do this. Its stupid, and I'm sure they lost out on a lot of money making that decision, but its not violating freedom of speech. If Rise Against truly cared about the message of this music video, there is no reason why they couldn't self fund it.
| |
rage against the machine, punk, and outwardly anti-government music are the highest forms of cringe tbh
| |
I want some punk band to write nonstop anti-Putin songs until they end up getting extra ingredients in their cereal.
| |
Polonium-O's.. Now from Kellog's
| |
"I want some punk band to write nonstop anti-Putin songs until they end up getting extra ingredients in their cereal."
Isn't that essentially Pussy Riot?
| |
lol user buzzkites really knows how to argue well guys
| |
I think he just jailed them... I want bodies, dammit!
| |
both party's ideologies are to expand the government, just in different ways.
Both Republican and Democrat are Liberal parties, and are both right wing and centrist garbage.
| |
"We all now enjoy weekends, eight hour workdays"
Oh crap baskets that's how out of touch this band has gotten.
| |
but seriously that one sentence is very alarming
| |
I knew they had become complacent with music writing/recording but this makes it worse. I think I'm gonna have to jam their first four albums and assume they broke up after and forget about them.
| |
Like Sowing beautifully said, the political landscape is everchanging and now more than ever it's volatile as fuck. If people want to make art, music, film to speak their positions, feelings, opinions on certain political issues then they definitely should. Don't give me the "PUNK COULD ONLY BE POLITICAL DURING REAGANOMICS" bullshit. We have disastrous leaders from various different political parties across the globe, many of who are killing off democracy and the Earth itself, so there's a lot to be said.
| |
Politics is a good subject for music. Never listened to this band though.
| |
This is actually really funny. I never knew about this.
| |
