Inb4 everyone still butthurt that this isn't Hybrid Theory
| |
or just because it's awful.
| |
Best single so far, in that at least Mike's part was listenable. Everything else was still shit.
| |
It's more middle of the road, Mike Shinoda and Chester sound wonderful. But the features ruin it.
| |
See I don't think Chester's voice fits at all with the pop sound.
| |
talk about a downfall, eh guys?
| |
"See I don't think Chester's voice fits at all with the pop sound."
this. i also think that mike sounds like shit here. the guest features and lyrics are unsurprisingly terrible but the instrumental is maybe the worst part about the whole thing. fucking wow from an instrumental standpoint this might be the worst one yet
| |
"talk about a downfall, eh guys?"
no, they merely found a new way to suck.
| |
Song would have been a hard 3.5/5 if Mike Shinoda had done the rapping parts for the two features. As is though, it's a hard 2.5 bordering on a 3, and takes the cake for worst features I've heard this year so far.
| |
"no, they merely found a new way to suck."
i don't necessarily disagree, but their last album was pretty good.
| |
i've only heard the one with the cringey "i tried so hard" song that was fucking inescapable when i was in hs.
| |
@Satellite: That's "In the End" off of Hybrid Theory, which everyone has a nostalgia boner for. It's a good song just... overplayed to all hell.
| |
"i've only heard the one with the cringey "i tried so hard" song that was fucking inescapable when i was in hs."
don't pretend like you don't know the whole song off by heart
| |
It's funny to me how Mike's rapping style sounds just like Drake
| |
i know snide lol
and yeah it's burned into a part of my brain that i hope to have surgically removed someday.
| |
@Satellite: Try this track instead - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2H4l9RpkwM
| |
At least Fred Durst is still thinking wisely how to continue with limp bizkit, while these guys are becoming a carbon copy of coldplay...sad
| |
Or try something from A Thousand Suns cause it's their only really great album tbh
| |
i've heard that song too snide.
this type of music just isn't my thing.
| |
Coldplay sound nothing like this tho. That is, until they did that collab with Chainsmokers
| |
"At least Fred Durst is still thinking wisely how to continue with limp bizkit"
Are they still making new music? Last single I remember was the one with Lil Wayne about 3 years ago.
| |
I read that Wes told in an interview that Fred is not satisfied with the songs the band wrote (including Fred himself) and he's not going to release something that it's not comfortable with.
| |
album's shaping up to be a hard 1.5
| |
I think they didn't learn a fucking thing from aerosmith....
| |
I mean with the thing of hiring pop writers to help them writing songs...
| |
@rc239 yeah it's been disappointment after disappointment
| |
Who produced the album anyway? oh the band itself...nevermind
| |
This is the best song released so far from the album... which is a shame because this song still kind of sucks. At least now we know Mike Shinoda's actually on this album.
| |
eh, definitely better than the last two tracks but im still not excited at all
| |
Chester didn't learn a thing when he was in stone temple pilots didn't he?
| |
We are approaching to the biggest failure of the year guys, get ready.
| |
It's basically a poppier Lost in the Echo with Pusha T. sooo not pure garbage but not good either.
| |
"Stormyz"
hahahahahahaha you mean Stormzy right? c'mon man proofread
| |
I'm not taking a time to proofread news about Linkin Park.
| |
plus Stormyz sounds funnier.
| |
Not even a Pusha T feature is going to get me to listen to this shit.
| |
Man this is just pathetic...
| |
lol at brats waking up and finally realising this band is rubbish. This 'group' has always been the same. Rubbish.
| |
Pretty terrible
| |
Album is gonna be a hard 1 from me, this is awful, worse than the last two tracks. Nothing makes this good, nothing about it is interesting or catchy, it's just made-for-radio give-us-your-money crap.
| |
While it's the best of the singles, and I actually like the chorus, it's still bland as fuck. Also, the features are beyond pointless. Sucks, their last album was actually good.
| |
The lyrics aren't the greatest, but they fit the feel of the song. The instrumental is pretty cool imo
| |
Proudly featuring no ESP guitars.
I think this album's gonna tank commercially tbh. The press will give it good reviews because they always do but they've alienated a large portion of their fanbase while at the same time doing nothing really to draw in a more mainstream audience.
| |
if this wasn't Linkin Park, I feel like I'd enjoy this more.
probably the best out of the 3, but battle symphony is unforgiveable no matter who the artist is
| |
Best single so far, but it's still terrible.
| |
Pusha T is actually legit
everything Linkin Park about this is just absolutely terrible tho
stay woke
| |
"I think this album's gonna tank commercially tbh"
I highly doubt, their lead single "Heavy" peaked higher on the Billboard Hot 100 than any of their singles since "Burn it Down"
The quality may not be on the level of THP, ATS or HT (I think this album will turn out to be Living Things Part 2) and it may be lambasted by critics here, but I don't expect it to tank commercially at all
| |
lol yeah this thing is going to do anything but tank. the sound this album is going for is the very essence of commercial.
| |
These songs keep getting worse and worse. I can't bring myself to believe these were created from any desire beyond a paycheck or perhaps wanting to remain relevant.
I've always had a soft spot for Linkin Park because Hybrid Theory and Meteora were my go to albums in sixth grade. I didn't really keep up with them after those albums but I never felt the desire to shit on them for what they've been doing. I recently decided to listen to their catalog for the hell of it and they've made some cool songs on pretty much all of their albums.
People seem to shit on Living Things but I think a more electronica infused sound is a pretty natural progression for these guys. The top half of that album was good in my opinion. People comparing these new songs to Living Things are completely wrong. The instrumentals on Living Things had SOMETHING going for them. These new songs are devoid of any soul. Nothing but 808 kicks and whatever else is populating the radio these days.
I'm not saying pop music sucks. I don't even think Heavy is a terrible song on it's own. The problem is how transparent of a cash grab it is. They went after the old school fans on their last album (I know because in an interview these guys were talking about how they realized they were a "rock" band and that got me curious enough to give it a listen). Apparently that didn't sell well enough for them because now they've done a complete 180. Now they're chasing after the mainstream money in the most obvious fashion possible.
It's just sad. I wouldn't care at all if they were at least honest about it. As it stands, they just seem creatively bankrupt to me.
| |
^Indeed, THP was not a commercial success by their standards and their label did not like that.
This song ain't any good and it actually ends up fitting the bands they were dissing in the song "Step Up" lol.
| |
they have to feel so empy inside recording this shit
| |
What is Pusha doing with these wack idiots.
| |
or just because it's awful. [2]
| |
Band would have been better off releasing hybrid theory 3.0, 4.0, 5.0... etc. after Meteora (HT 2.0), because their career is just a mess of a band not knowing what to sound like or what to be good at sounding like. They nailed their niche at the start of their career, and then they abandoned it for some dumb sense of "artistic cred".
| |
it was a shit niche so who cares
| |
Their Warner Bros. Machine Shop label, most likely, since their album sales have been cut in half with every album release.
| |
I've been here killing it, longer than you've been alive, you idiot
Holy shit, such edgy.
| |
In the End is one of the worst songs ever written, I can't imagine how anyone without nostalgia for it could listen to it and think otherwise.
"Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme to explain in due time" is indefensible.
| |
Legitimately confused why people still listen to this band when there are hundreds of thousands of groups who make music that is (consistently) objectively better. Just try something else. There's so much music out there. It's time to quit Linkin Park. Just stop. They don't care about their music, why should you.
| |
Edit - Wrong story.
| |
this album is going to bomb hard and the next one will be metal again
| |
Lol saying certain music created is objectively better than another
| |
"Band would have been better off releasing hybrid theory 3.0, 4.0, 5.0... etc. after Meteora (HT 2.0), because their career is just a mess of a band not knowing what to sound like or what to be good at sounding like. Ewww no. Personally, I'd have hated that. Meteora, for me, is their laziest album lyrically and instrumentally too, just the same song over and over. Only time I felt they changed it up enough was Breaking the Habit
I have mixed opinions on their track record post-Meteora but I thought A Thousand Suns is their best album alongside Hybrid Theory
| |
At this point I'm only looking to see how bad they can possibly get. While this song sucks, it's not their worst. I kinda expected it to sound more Chainsmokers
| |
Really, honestly thought "Heavy" was by Sara Bareilles until today. Jesus christ, at least LP used to suck in their own special sucky way.
The animation for the lyric video is kinda nifty tho
| |
sara bareilles isn't a hack
| |
This one is the best from this singles, but not amazing or something like that. Average - good radio song nothing more. This album will be like this or even worse.
| |
Want something a heavier? check out my metal remix of Living Things: https://karslandman.bandcamp.com/album/living-things-metal-remix-wip
| |
even mongi doesnt dig it
| |
Probably the best so far, but that's no kind of compliment
This is disappointing as all hell especially since I'm like the biggest LP apologist on here
| |
Most people get bummed that new Linkin Park isn't Hybrid Theory and I'm over here just hoping for a Meteora 2.0...
| |
It's already been six years since Gold Cobra.
| |
meteora and hybrid theory are the same albums tho
| |
Meteora is Hybrid Theory but with better chemistry between Mike and Chester and obviously more poppy songwriting
| |
Lordy lordy. On a nostalgic level, I love that they still exist, the lineup is the same, and that they're still releasing music.
I just haven't thought any of it has been remotely listenable since a few songs...two albums ago.
| |
Their first few albums were awesome bit these new songs just suck..
| |
agreed really really good band
| |
