This is fucking phenomenal

I wasn't in love with this song but then again I find all their albums have amazing standouts that the singles don't necessarily foreshadow. Am very excited and have preordered.
Anyone find the mixing a bit weird? The guitar in left left channel is so loud and dry that it's kind of distracting.

This was nice!

Band is consistently amazing. I hope they go even more electronic this time around, as the last minute of the track shows.

"Anyone find the mixing a bit weird?"
I'm not a fan of Nick Didia's mixing. When the left panned guitar comes in with harsher tones it doesn't sit right in the mix for me. Wish they'd gone with someone else but hey, music is still great.

Great song.

Fuck yeah, cant wait for the album!

The lead guitar sounds so terribly mixed that it completely takes away from the song for me.
Hard 2.5/5

Mixing is pretty fine overall, though personally the guitars are probably panned a little too hard.
|
| |
It sounds even which is the most important thing though.
|
| |
The lead sounds so high in the mix that it actually hurts my ears though I wouldn't call that even.

Maybe you have hearing problems.

The guitars are panned way too hard, especially the guitar on the left, which is far too loud and intrusive. I haven't listened on speakers yet but on headphones sounds like my left ear is being screamed at. Obviously hard-panning is going to be less desirable in headphones but usually you expect either a little bit of space/reverb to pull the sound away from your ear somewhat, or a balanced mix where you can at least get past the hard-panning. This has neither. I'm glad people agree about the mixing being weird though I'm worried for the rest of the album... the song is very unpleasant to listen to on headphones at any appreciable volume.

"Maybe you have hearing problems."
3 people already have all noticed the mix being bad, and the thread isn't even that long yet... I don't think the issue is that we all have hearing problems. If anything the mixing engineer should get his left ear checked out by a specialist.
Edit: Also the funny thing is, the band Kickstarted this album because they wanted to make sure that they could afford to make the album a higher standard of production than their previous work. Whoopsy.

I didn't notice the completely left-panned mixing of the lead guitar at first because I listen to music on speakers, but I definitely notice it now. Must be a train wreck on headphones.

Yeah mixing engineer should know better to reference mix. On my monitors it sounds alright but on my AKG's it's pretty bad. The whole left guitar track needs to be toned down a few db and needs some of the high-mids taken back to get rid of the harshness.
