Yet another new Pillows album

2017-01-04 by dimsim3478 | 10 Comments
Having just released their 20th studio album Stroll and Roll last April, Japanese alternative rock legends The Pillows have announced that they have yet another full-length lined up for release on 8 March 2017. Entitled Nook in the Brain, the album follows Stroll and Roll by less than a year.

Nook in the Brain will consist of 10 songs including new single "Ousama ni Nare", released digitally on 14 December last year, and "Be Wild", which was briefly showcased in an August 2016 commercial promoting Olympic freestyle wrestler (and Pillows fan) Eri Tosaka. Frontman Sawao Yamanaka has commented that the album will feature an alternative rock sound different from that of the band's past few albums, which he expressed were not as stylistically varied as he would have liked. Nook in the Brain will be available in both a standard CD edition, as well as a limited CD+DVD package (the DVD will contain 3 music videos).

The Pillows will also tour Japan in support of Nook in the Brain from 5 May to 22 July. Specific dates and ticketing details will be announced at a later date.

Later in the year, the anime series FLCL will air its first new episodes in 16 years, and will feature a soundtrack predominantly composed of The Pillows' music, as it was with the original miniseries.

meh. i think Trial was a fluke. this will be boring and uninspired like their last two.

i do think Trial's superiority over their recent catalogue was a stroke of luck, but i also thought Stroll and Roll was one of their most consistent albums in years. as for this new one, the new single is pretty compelling; so i've got some faith. hopefully u give the new album a chance.
