Meshuggah reveal eighth album

2016-08-05 by tempest-- | 61 Comments
Swedish progressive metal pioneers Meshuggah have detailed their upcoming eighth studio album, titled The Violent Sleep of Reason. Inspired by a Goya painting called, "The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters," the record will be out October 7th via Nuclear Blast Records.

The Violent Sleep of Reason was produced by the band and was engineered by Tue Madsen of Puk Studios in Kaerby, Denmark. The album cover was designed by Keerych Luminokaya, who created the artwork for Koloss and The Ophidian Trek, as well as the new images for each of the LPs and EPs in the 25 Years of Musical Deviance box set.

Tracklist:
1. Clockworks
2. Born in Dissonance
3. MonstroCity
4. By the Ton
5. Violent Sleep of Reason
6. Ivory Tower
7. Stifled
8. Nostrum

I just need to freeze myself until fall so I don't have to wait for all these great albums to come out. Maybe when I wake up there will be some more fake Tool news too.

Koloss had the best 8 string tones I've heard and the drums were delicious. Vocals were a bit too loud tho.

Koloss was their best album since Nothing in my view, so I hopefully this album outshines it.
Ideally, I'd love to see them go completely off the wall and make an extremely dissonant album.
