Yeah song rules it seems like their going back to the PD sound.
|
| |
best thing since planetary duality. hell yeah
|
| |
Best thing since Planetary Duality isn't really saying anything considering they've only released one mediocre sterile techwank bullshit album in between.
Get hype, looks like this is going to be slightly less mediocre sterile techwank bullshit.
|
| |
I submitted a news story for this a week ago. I guess sputnik just doesn't like me.
Anyway it doesn't matter.
I love the track.
|
| |
Thank god Keene is done ripping off Devin Townsend
|
| |
At least this is just bland and sterile as opposed to blatantly plagiarized.
|
| |
A lot of people seem to love these guys and I honestly don't understand it.
|
| |
How can someone think this production is good? Those harsh vocals are fucking terrible, the cleans are the only thing that make this interesting.
Fuck tech death.
|
| |
The production on this is mind blowingly bad
|
| |
Its The Faceless
Of course it going smoke cock not a big surprise
|
| |
idk wanted to add some spice to the phrase suck dick
w/e im bored
|
| |
I never got why bands that aren't chart material still release singles. What's the point?
|
| |
this is embarrassing
|
| |
Yeah this shit fucking rules
|
| |
its oks i guess, can't see myself getting excited for it though
|
| |
its ok
|
| |
Come on Bloc. This is YouTube metal.
I don't understand why these bands need to sterilise the shit out of their productions.
|
| |
You kids don't know whats up Keene is god
|
| |
You're right, he would be great in a cover band, playing solos till he drops from people who've actually proved themselves capable of writing an interesting song.
|
| |
Looking at how god awful the production was on Autotheism, I think you guys are being way too hard on this. Overall, I liked the song's second half a lot, but nothing really blew me away.
|
| |
Noice.
|
| |
this is good as shit after autotheism, fuck all you pussies
"You're right, he would be great in a cover band, playing solos till he drops from people who've actually proved themselves capable of writing an interesting song."
that was pretty fuckin funny though
|
| |
i get what people are saying about the production, but i don't see how you can deny the songwriting chops here. and Planetary Duality is a damn solid album
|
| |
The song isn't their best but I'm glad they're going back to the Planetary Duality sound. Autotheism was good but had a few cringe-inducing parts that sorta turned me away from the album.
|
| |
Production is sub par but at least it's not as shotty and all over the place as Autotheism was. That record in every way was just a complete let down. Coming off of something as solid as PD and going into that was really a shame. I know Keene is pretty much the main songwriter but maybe having Demon Carcass and Brandon back has instilled some creative juices to allow him to produce a record that isn't a steaming pile of shit like the previous one was.
|
| |
Autotheism is actually pretty sweet if you're not a huge bitch about it
|
| |
Will check later on
|
| |
the production is horrific. enjoyable song overall though
|
| |
love it
|
| |
"Autotheism is actually pretty sweet if you're not a huge bitch about it"
Sitting here reading through like, Damn...not a lot of love for that album. Good to see a different opinion. I jammed the hell out of it and really loved that dude's cleans. Shame they won't have him anymore. Planetary Duality was pretty sweet but idk why all the flack for Autotheism. *shrugs*
This will still be cool and then I'll jam all of their albums and still really enjoy it.
|
| |
I don't hear anything wrong with the production at all. Never been into this band but this track is pretty awesome. May have to give planetary duality another look.
|
| |
I like Planetary Duality but this sounds like a PD B-side. Well executed, but not memorable. The riff sounds a little recycled.
|
| |
"To build anticipation for their album, give fans a taste/sample before they decide to buy? Marketing?"
Promo =/= singles.
|
| |
You can promote with singles
|
| |
sin·gle
ˈsiNGɡəl/
noun (music): a short record or CD featuring one main one song or track.
Fine fine, you win. I just think of singles as a radio promotion or store promotion, which usually is the very last thing death metal bands do. But whatever.
|
| |
Can't decide what's worse this or the brokencyde song
|
| |
I get it dude. A single just sounds like a pop thing to do. Like "oh hay check out the new death metal single coming to a Hot Topic near youuu.." Bands have to get there stuff out there somehow though.
What's with the hate for the track? Just wondering. Do those that dislike that actually dig Planetary Duality and think that's way better than this or never liked the band.
And what are tech death bands you find better than Faceless.
|
| |
"And what are tech death bands you find better than Faceless."
anata, decapitated, cryptopsy, arsis, inanimate existence, gorod, & odious mortem to name a few
|
| |
decapitated has made too much shit too still call them a good tech death band
|
| |
idk if id call any of their stuff shit but winds of creation will always rule, and even then they still have a better track record than the faceless
|
| |
two ok ones and a shit one imo
|
| |
you realize "bad metal" is entirely subjective right
|
| |
well i think the faceless is bad metal so you decide for yourself
|
| |
me too honestly, i like some of their stuff but most of it is too lifeless and wanky even for me
|
| |
I got a weak spot for their first two albums...this sounds solid to me.
|
| |
Are they good with their instruments? Absolutely. They can't write a song though.
|
| |
I agree that Anata and Gorod are definitely better. Those groups are legendary IMO. Decapitated's old stuff is cool. (to sound cliche).
I feel like The Faceless have their own interesting niche. The songwriting is suspect somewhat but at the same time I enjoy the eclectic nature. This album will decide a lot.
How do you think they compare with bands like Spawn of Possession, Obscura, and Beyond Creation?
And anyone heard the new Ouroboros yet? It's pretty cool more harmonically focused (like taking from symphonic black metal somewhat imo), but I haven't heard their first album yet which some say is better.
|
| |
Pretty excited to hear the new Ouroboros album. Their first album is underrated.
And soon there'll be new Gorod mwhahahahaaaaa
|
| |
Holy crap I didn't even know. That's awesome!!! YES
|
| |
Akeldama and Planetary Duality rule hard. Then things went to shit. Also, someone needs to remind Keene of his planetary duality guitar tone and production, cause everything since then has sounded thin as shit
|
| |
Dmax: all those bands tend to write samey stuff. If you like hearing ppl do crazy tech stuff without any real context then tech death is for u.
Decapitated have always been a band I have enjoyed tho, carnival is forever is fucking fantastic. Like a techy meshuggah with Jeff Loomis tones.
|
| |
I really want to like this. I'm also just excited to see SOMETHING new by these guys.
But the production is shit and this sounds like a bunch of recycled elements from PD. The songwriting is very...loose. Unfocused.
They're talented, but they really need to get someone to help them in the songwriting process and give it some guidance. And to mix it again.
|
| |
I really don't like tech death, but these guys have had a few good songs over the years. I actually dug the last album, really don't understand why it gets so much crap. But this...this is awful. It doesn't sound like The Faceless, it sounds like some random local "tech death" band that gets thrown on as an opener for some touring band nobody cares about.
|
| |
lol a dude I used to know was in a band just like that. He said it was music for "real musicians". Well... He now fixes leaky ceilings so we all know how that went.
|
| |
Michael and the Keenes
