Amorphis release new lyric video

2015-07-17 by manosg EMERITUS | 17 Comments
Following the recent announcement of their upcoming album, Under the Red Cloud, Finnish metallers Amorphis released a lyric video for their first single, 'Death of a King'.

The song features contributions from Chrigel Glanzmann (Eluveitie, flute) and Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth, percussion). Guitarist Esa Holopainen commented: "It was a great honor to have such talented musicians appearing on 'Death Of A King'. Each one of them puts his personality and character in the very right spot".

Stoked for this album. While it's more of the same, I'm fine with that as long as it's quality. Based on this track, I think Under the Red Cloud is poised to alleviate the more or less minor qualms of Circle and feel like a nice little update to the band's catalog.

I'm stoked for this too.. i thought circle was ok, The Beginning of Times and Skyforger were excellent.

Circle>Skyforger>The Beginning of Times for me. Circle felt somewhat fresh; Skyforger was all over the place; The Beginning of Times was just bland and forgettable. But to each their own.

I liked the middle eastern vibe but the verses n chorus are boring.

They've always done the middle eastern thing very well, so the success of the album lies on the rest of the melodies and stuff.

Came in expecting a solid song with Circle's dog shit production. I'm thrilled to admit that I couldn't have been more wrong: the song is spectacular and I *love* the Middle-Eastern melodies. Better yet, the mixing seems solid. The sadistically harsh treble from "Shades of Gray" is nowhere to be found here.
