Gorguts detail upcoming LP

2015-07-16 by lalchimiste | 57 Comments
Experimental death metal veteran Luc Lemay gave away details regarding the upcoming album of his band Gorguts in an interview with French Canadian web magazine CaMuz

Concerning this album, Lemay says it will consist of a single song of about 30-35 minutes in length. He also explained that the music will delve further into the progressive and atmospheric territories explored in Colored Sands, while still being different.

Concerning the album, Lemay elaborates: "I am really happy with the music. It's different from Colored Sands. We further drift from the death metal, but it's not a progressive jazz album either. It doesn't mean it's less heavier however, you still recognize the Gorguts sound. For fuck's sake, Considered Dead, get over it! We did this almost 30 years ago. We change as musicians".

The album will be recorded in October this year and is scheduled to be released in March 2016.

I'm guessing most people didn't read the interview since it's in french but this part might interest some:

"I feel like the band is changing. With this new album we might start attracting fans outside the death metal scene, people who love Neurosis or even Godspeed."

Colored Sands is one of my favorite heavy releases ever (and arguably the heaviest fucking record I've heard), so I, too, hope this improves upon that.

Exactly what the elitists want to hear!

I hope the production improves on this. Thought it was a bit detrimental to Colored Sands.

I dunno, a lot of time the wall-of-sound and guitars drown the faster drum parts. With this said, I think it still works, as the songs speak louder than specific production flaws.
