Is that Holy Diver bit intentional?...surely is has to be
| |
Pretty good song. Nothing special really, but still looking forward to their new album.
| |
yea i'd like to think dave grohl is not that stupid. but he is cool enough to do that on purpose.
| |
Not bad. I wasn't blown away, but it's got a pretty decent build.
| |
boring riffs
| |
still riding that wasting light momentum. very nice.
| |
I love the slow build-up and the funk influences in parts of the song... it'll be interesting to see what the rest of the album sounds like.
| |
nice song, I definitely wasn't disappointed
| |
this is great!
| |
I thought I was about to here victim of changes when that riff first came in. lol
| |
Decent
| |
its alright I guess. Something a bit different so thats cool
| |
Has some cool moments but meh overall
| |
Good song. Just as expected.
| |
damn how many times they gonna use that verse chord progression
ok song i guess but we want hard and heavy bitch
| |
Guys that clav funk riff is the best thing they've ever done haha.
Seriously pumped for this record.
| |
Song's good, I'm glad they finally decided to release a single.
| |
It should be noted that Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick is a guest on this track.
| |
This is a strong start. Hopefully it follows the lead of Wasting Light and minimizes the amount of filler songs.
| |
Song is solid but not amazing like most foo fighters songs. As usual I'll probably listen to the 1-2 great songs off this album and skip the rest.
the funk riff had potential but they didn't do a whole lot with it. rather than build the whole song around it they just plastered it on top of a standard foo song.
| |
this is fucking awesmae
| |
haha oh man, of course that Holy Diver bit was intentional!
Dave is the best
| |
yes
| |
no, FTI you aren't.
| |
I enjoy the build a lot, and god those bass grooves are sick, but it takes a bit too long to get to the 2nd half. Still an awesome jam that really gets me pumped for the album
| |
Definitely takes a while to get going but it ends on one hell of a strong note. Typical Foo Fighters
| |
really can't stand this band. no matter how hard I try to get into them it never works out
| |
Excellent track.
| |
Wasting Light had a bunch of filler, honestly.
| |
nice track
| |
deathschool, your comment hurts me
| |
good production
| |
Idk, Gonzo. I was in love with Wasting Light for a while, but now I think it tends to get too much credit as the savior of Foos' discog.
| |
Can't listen now. will dig later. Can someone tell me, does Albini's dirty magic show?
| |
Solid
| |
hahaha that "Holy Diver" rip-off. good song though.
| |
"does Albini's dirty magic show?"
Not sure he produced the track. It was recorded at his studio but until the telly show comes out I'm pretty sure he didn't help record the song.
| |
Love it. The most exciting thing they've done in 8 years except maybe some stuff off of Wasting Light.
"funk riff had potential but they didn't do a whole lot with it. rather than build the whole song around it they just plastered it on top of a standard foo song."
Disagree hard. That came in and sent the song on a non-stop climax till it ended.
| |
could do without the holy diver riff
| |
Nice track, but Dave can do better. Holy diver part is fun, but 'i should have known' chord progression is getting really overused. Th ending is super sick!
| |
Okay but the Holy Diver bits didn't stick out as much as the Evanescence - Call Me When You're Sober parts towards the end.
| |
This is fucking jamming, that funky riff rules so hard.
| |
dig the holy diver part but track is meh overall. Still got my hopes up though
| |
Nice track, let's see how the whole album keeps up.
| |
The build up is great and Dave really lets loose towards the end. Musically its pretty different for the Foos too.
| |
boring, band is medicore
| |
Not as strong of an opener as Bridge Burning, but that ending was cool. Nothing that beat out Wasting Light, but still
pumped for the full album.
| |
Idk, Gonzo. I was in love with Wasting Light for a while, but now I think it tends to get too much credit as the savior of Foos' discog.
It is though haha. Anything past shape sucked, minus a few songs along the way. Wasted Light brought them back to the a-game.
Love Grohls singing on this though.
| |
I really like the direction they went since Wasting Light.
This is a simple, but beautiful song. Definitely looking for the album.
| |
Listened to it last night, thought it was "pretty good".
Let it sink in, listened again today... GREW SO HARD. Now more pumped for the album than ever, and the show premiers on HBO today!
| |
the song takes a totally different turn. Fun track
| |
Hoping the rest of the album is all non stop energy. Never really liked how the fighters just awkwardly slapped their hits inbetween a bunch of snoozers.
| |
lol evanescence vocal lines
| |
Not bad, but I hope that the rest of the album is better.
| |
there's an "i should have known"-esque melody in bits of this, even kinda proggish
great tune, not bad at all
| |
Pretty awesome song.
| |
What can I say, I like it.
| |
Eh slightly overproduced but decent song
| |
^ lol at anything albini produces is overdone
| |
probably thinks rick rubin is just right
| |
New Foo Fighters? Yes please!!!
| |
Albini overproduced? What you guys smoking
| |
Did albini even produce? I thought they had butch vig with them...
| |
This sounds a bit too polished to be an Albini mix personally.
| |
This is great, my hopes for the album are still riding high
| |
the vocals are the most simple part of this and they still end up kicking ass.
"What you guys smoking"
Marijuana. THC level: 14%
| |
Sounds nothing like Albini producing. Anyways, never cared for FF since '99...
| |
analog recordings sound so amazing
| |
not bad
| |
not bad
| |
not bad
| |
I'd say "couple or more killer tracks with a couple or more fillers" (depending on which album we're talking about) is every FF album with the exception of their second which is just amazing from beginning to end (okay, the debut was pretty great too). And this is coming from someone who loves the band. But that's not a small feat though. The vast majority of music, let alone popular music, is albums that don't even have a killer track or maybe one at most. Dave can write a memorable rock anthem or ballad even in his sleep.
| |
Agreed on the second half of the song being way stronger
