Listen to new Swans track

2014-03-21 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 54 Comments
Swans have started streaming 'A Little God In Our Hands', the first track off the new LP, To Be Kind to see the light of day. The album will be released on May 13 through Young God/Mute Records.

Along with the song, the album art was also revealed, featuring 6 paintings by Bob Biggs each displayed on a different panel. To use them, it took over three decades for Michael Gira to obtain Biggs' consent.

Read the whole story behind the album art and listen to 'A Little God In Our Hands' here: http://pitchfork.com/news/54441-swans-share-new-song-a-little-god-in-our-hands-six-part-art-for-new-album-to-be-kind/

Weird, was just contemplating the sound of To Be Kind while listening to The Seer. And now the new track is out.
Sounds like it could easily fit on The Seer. Not sure if it's a good thing.

It's one of their easiest songs to digest but then again it's not. Needless to say, this tune has been on repeat all day.

I personally really like it, but I kinda understand why some fans wouldn’t like it. The track’s well-structured, easy to digest, so not necessarily what some people want out of a Swans track.

This song is much easier to listen to than their 30-minute epics or lengthy droning tracks, but it's so fucking good. So excited for this album.

"but I kinda understand why some fans wouldn’t like it. "

You mean fans of only The Seer?

A lot of their older stuff (i.e., Great Annihilator, White Light, etc) are much more straightforward in structure. And to be honest, fans just want to be delightfully surprised by these guys. A The Seer part 2 would have been the most disappointing move.
