Guitarist leaves Down

2013-10-02 by BigBlob | 37 Comments
Kirk Windstein, the guitarist and one of the founding members of metal outfit Down has left the band. Kirk has stated on facebook that he intends to focus solely on his other band Crowbar, where he provides vocals aswell as playing guitar.

“For months now I have been posting that I am concentrating on Crowbar 100% FULL TIME… 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of Crowbar and its a great feeling to put my heart and soul into something that I created so long ago."

Down ruled, but a lot has changed since Mila came out.

Phil is pretty much Ozz-ificated now and just babbles about the integrity that he used to stand for. I can understand how that would get old and Kirk would want to move on and create something meaningful.

Crowbar has delivered before. And now Kirk has even more experience and maturity so I'm sure it'll be good.

I actually like Crowbar a lot better than Down, so I'm not bothered by this.

My affection for Crowbar is deeply nostalgic. One of the first bands I tried to learn songs on guitar with, grew up listening to them, etc. Just don't have that connection with Down.
