I think that judging and condemning (and making untasteful jokes) is also a way of coping with the truth of something horrible and therefore, when hearing a shocking story like that we automatically need to find someone to put the blame on and punish, even if only in our minds, so that it becomes more bearable. In that situation, someone who takes a stand similar to "not so fast" deprives you of a psychological relief and thus exposes you to the crude reality. He/she is thus easily associated with the criminal as psychologically he/she plays a similar role, hence the "Why you fucks." There is no room for a dissident opinion because it is unbearable.
