AFI release name of new album 2013-07-23 by says | 53 Comments |
AFI have confirmed that their new LP will be named Burials, and is set to be released on the 22nd of October 2013. They will also be headlining a tour starting in September along with Touche Amore.
Vocalist Davey Havok released a statement of what to expect of the album:

So far "I Hope You Suffer" was shamefully uninspired and resolutely tedious
| |
I thought they were naming it William Bevans
| |
LightRedFloyd
Deep as a silent burial?
| |
Medicate was a better single than I Hope You Suffer but I'm still looking forward to this
| |
gonna be bad
| |
might have to finally see them live since my girl likes them so much
| |
"I Hope You Suffer" was just meh. I have bad feelings about this album.
| |
Even after DU and CL, their stage presence was still top notch. Fucking excited to see them.
| |
Holy fuck, I can actually catch their show for once.
| |
Burials - Untrue
| |
So far "deep and slow" is about the only thing going for it.
| |
I liked Medicate, but didn't care much for Crash Love. I have a feeling that this album will be a lot better though.
Wish the tour was coming near me...
| |
I wanna see Touche Amore
| |
A lot of people ate their words when Crash Love came out and they found themselves enjoying it.
| |
If reviewed lower than a 3.0, the summary will be "Untrue." Watch.

touche amore?

ha
hahahahahahahahahahahahah
| |
Hopefully enough despair for another Despair Factor.
| |
What the hell are Touché doing in this tour?
| |
these dudes have been pretty consistent so far. looking forward to this.
| |
^summed it up perfectly
| |
I really hope this is good...... but I'm braced for disappointment
| |
"I'm waiting for a lot of people to make fun of davey's poetically cryptic description of the album yet forgetting they've always presented stuff in this fashion when they started having a darker sound around black sails in the sunset."
still doesn't mean that quote's not mega-gay
| |
I just remember that Jontron video where he says something about girls and puts a picture of Davey Havok
| |
I think it's dinocity treb
| |
no, andcas, but the above quote, is mega-gay
| |
Shame they aren't coming to Florida on this tour.
| |
Not sure if I should take anyone seriously that says "mega-gay" when trying to make fun of someone that is honest and sincere in his words. Also, considering your username is EaglesBecomeVultures, you should know that Converge evoke similar emotions in their music and lyrics.
| |
lol cmon dude
| |
might actually see them this time around
| |
Lady Gaga without makeup looks like Davey with makeup wtf how is that possible
| |
Davey looks badass with the makeup, without took some getting used to.
| |
The single was pretty boring, I would catch the tour for Touche Amore though
| |
crash love was awful
| |
Gonna suck so bad
| |
agreeeeeed
| |
The lyrics on the last song were so forced, like a band impersonating AFI, like he doesn't actually feel all dark and stuff anymore, too happy
| |
Did you even read the description, Treb?
"This record is of silence, of burials, and the burials that result from that silence. It’s of betrayal, cruelty, weakness, anxiety, panic - deep and slow - despair, injury and loss. And in this it is shamefully honest and resolutely unforgiving.”
It's obviously super dark and emotional
| |
Yeah, and I'm saying it sounds forced, cuz he's probably really happy at this point in his life, just like Isaac Brock, who at least doesn't pretend he's still pissed off at the world
| |
sarcasm
| |
probably
| |
Just heard one of these guys' songs on the radio ''Endlessly, She Said' It was alright. The singer is pretty great at screaming, but he hardly does it. He gets a bit whiny at times, and too feminine for me.
| |
The hyperbole and lofty descriptions don't really match the music. Some sweet guitar from Jade on this though, dude's always been really good.
| |
cl was their only meh record. So pretty stoked for this
| |
^^ Decemberunderground was crap. Steaming godawful crap
| |
Looking forward to this regardless, and really hope to catch them live if the tickets are still available come payday.
| |
Same (hopefully), if it works out with the tickets it'll be my girlfriends birthday present.
| |
I thought DU was a 2.0 and I remember just being so let down during my first listen. After STS I was beyond excited for DU, but it is easily their worst album. I actually thought CL was fairly decent.
With that said, I have seen these guys 3 times (including once after CL) and their live performance is fantastic. Definitely worth going to see
| |
Also for any new comers to AFI: The Art of Drowning is my favorite, but Sing the Sorrow is right
there as well
| |
Listening to I Hope You Suffer right now. Sounds very 30stm esque....not a good thing. And I love AFI.
| |
Sounds more like a NIN song...
| |
Disagree, both bands have far too rich a history and distinct vocal styles; if anything this is just praise of Jade's layering that Davey mentioned in one of the newer interviews.
| |
"shamefully uninspired and resolutely tedious"
Hmm, yes. *puffs pipe nonchalantly while flipping through SkyMall* Quite.
