Static-X Disband

2013-06-10 by PostMesmeric | 42 Comments
After years of tumultuous relationships between himself and the former members of Static-X, frontman Wayne Static officially declared the band as “done.”

Static confirmed the official disbandment of the group on June 7, 2013 in an interview with The Gauntlet, citing the band’s end to be related to his disputes with former band members, specifically with former bassist Tony Campos.

Static explained his relationship with Campos in the interview:
The last e-mail Tony sent me, he said he hopes we never have to talk again. And I said, ‘Believe me, this is the last you’ll ever hear from me.’ And that’s the way we left. And it sucks. I think it’s sad that things have to end that way. And it happens to a lot of bands … Static-X is done. The end. No more Static-X".

Wayne Static had continued Static-X with a new lineup in 2012, but the Noise Revolution Tour was the group’s final major tour before dissolving. The band originally broke up in 2011, but reformed in 2012, though Wayne Static was the only original member.
No new projects from Static are currently revealed, though the former frontman did release a solo album, Pighammer, in 2011. Tony Campos currently plays bass in Prong and Soulfly.

Actually I liked this band, but after cult of static they were dead. So that was the best choice.

Up to Start A War were pretty good. Static needs to grow up and stop spiking his hair up now he's balding though. Wasn't he planning on a tour where they were gonna play Wisconsin Death Trip in full? Guess people weren't coming to shows without Tony in the band so Wayne got desperate but, clearly, Tony wasn't interested. He's in half a million bands right now anyway (Soulfly, Prong, Asesino, finishing up the last ever ever no seriously this time final ever no more after this Ministry album, etc.) so has no reason to go back.

Everything about Static-X was Wayne Static, he was the face of that band and everything about him should stay like forever since he doesn't lookthat way just a few weeks or months, he looks like that for more than a decade, can you imagine it? He is what he is, he is just static. I wish him a good luck and I hope I will hear him on some new project. The best would be if he could create a new band.

Static's saying it's cos Tony owns half the name Static-X (which helps prove my theory that it was an amalgamation of their stage names Wayne Static and Maldito-X) and he was paying Tony for the ability to use the name and tour with it but because he got a hernia he couldn't pay Tony. Shame it's ended with mudslinging.

The last 2 albums (and the solo album) sounded phoned in, like a band trying to sound like Static-X, but without the spark that made Static-X any good. I held out hope for a return to form, but I guess we're just left with a band puttering out and dying.

The hair was to blame. It possessed Wayne Static's mind and forced him to act like a douche.

"my 14 year old self would be devo right now"

WDP middle school jamz 4ever. and too bad that they also showed promise during Cannibal, but Static and his ego fucked everything as usual.
