I really like Ashe. I also really like the direction this album takes, though I think they need to play things a lot less safe.

Yep, it's pretty ironic that their trademark is what sucks most about the album. Leave the Djent to Meshuggah and write a nice riff instead.

31 minutes in it gets good. the ambient bits sound tiring after a bit and the chugging is standard fare
35-37 an Icarus lives type riff.
no harsh vocals. at all.

All valid complaints.

As for their vocalist. This guy will probably stick around for a while considering he only lives like 20 minutes away from the rest of the band. TesseracT will get much bigger in the coming years. If he's smart he'll stay to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

these guys seem to have established a little niche for themselves with this release.

Some riffs seem pretty similar to previous releases. But this doesn't seem bad. The vocalist is better than Elliot at least. Not as powerful as Dan though.

They have an instrumental version coming out on the same day as the original.

I still prefer Dan for the time being but give this kid a year or two and he'll be on par with Dan if not better.

I don't understand putting out instrumental versions along side the normal versions it seems like an implicit admission of lack of faith in the vocals to engage the audience or not alienate listeners.

His voice is awesome! I really like it... he's got a lot of range, could do with a bit more power, but his mellowness suits the music. This band really divides opinion!

One was better than this. The drummer and bassist are pretty sick. new singer has the range but the memorable vocals aren't there which were abundant on One. Nocturne is pretty sweet though.
