Soulfly New Album Info 2013-05-05 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 10 Comments | In a recent video update Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera has shed some new light on Soulfly's 9th studio album, to be recorded over summer with producer Terry Date (Pantera, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Bring Me The Horizon, mixing for Soulfly's 3, Prophecy and Dark Ages).
In the video he confirmed that 11 songs have been written with his son Zyon, who will play drums on the album. Max has previously stated that his side project with Greg Puciato, Dave Elitch and Troy Sanders will be recorded towards the end of the year and that Cavalera Conspiracy is currently on hold aside from plans from Iggor to release a remix album.

Kinda looking forward to this. Enslaved was very death metal influenced and by retaining Tony Campos (who let's remember was until recently in Possessed) they can carry that on but with Max's side project having an apparent punk influence to it and Zyon's own band with Igor Jr being a punk band that's got a good chance of rubbing off on the new Soulfly record. Zyon should do well on drums too, when you grow up being taught by the likes of Iggor Cavalera, Bill Ward and Roy Mayorga you're gonna turn out quite well.

| | | Reckon it's interesting how after Omen and Blunt Force Trauma Max has started to take a backseat slightly with production, letting Zeuss be the main producer (although Max remained co-producer) for Enslaved and bringing in Terry Date for this one who'd previously only mixed stuff although one could easily have thought he has produced for them before as he has links.

| | | Band is fairly consistent. Diversifying their influences should lead to good things.
| | | I'm still really excited for the side project with Sanders, Puciato, and Elitch. It's gonna be pretty awesome or so I hope.
| | | Wish I'd waited an extra day or two to post this as they've just signed to Nuclear Blast which is a pretty big deal as Max has been with Roadrunner since like 1987 or sometime around that with Sepultura, and all subsequent projects have been there (Nailbomb, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy, etc.). RIP Roadrunner.
| | | As well as that they're now back to being labelmates with a certain band called Sepultura.
