Jay-Z....Baz Luhrmann......The Great Gatsby....NPR.........sounds like a clusterf@#k of epic proportions.

^Worst comment ever

Hmm. Strange soundtrack for a classic.
|
| |
does seem like a giant clusterfuk
I'm sure it will either be amazing, or terrible
or it will be ok
|
| |
Gotye and Lana are what will keep this from being a 1.5.
|
| |
The Lana del Rey track is shit
The xx's song is good
|
| |
For their intentions the songs aren't all bad,
Lana grabs on to Daisy's POV real well just as Florence + TM do Gatsby's. Jack White is Jack White.
|
| |
This movie is shaping up to be as terrible as expected.
|
| |
@Trebor17 Go peruse any of the threads involving a death to gain some perspective if you really think my above opinion is the "worst comment ever".
Luhrmann and Jigga should not be allowed to read The Great Gatsby, let alone bastardize it. The result looks and sounds like an assault on the senses.....imho.

I was not implying, I was stating it and I was not measuring success. You think their work will stand the test of time like F. Scott's? I doubt that high school juniors will be viewing "Australia" as a historically accurate period piece in 50 years. I love The Black Album, but not sure it is up there with Beethoven's 5th as future HS music class material.
Seeing as how this movie appears to be based on the book only in the loosest of terms I am sure it can be enjoyed on its own.

Agent zero taking shit seriously damn.
|
| |
no Gatsbys American Dream? what the fuck, hollywood
|
| |
This is the crappiest soundtrack of all time. Needs some good Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Ella Fitzgerald. I can totally see those guys backing this thing. Maybe some Tangled Thoughts of Leaving thrown in the background when they find Gatsby dead.
They could've made this so much better. But, I have a feeling that the movie will suck. I didn't have high hopes for it- but the soundtrack proves my theories even further.
|
| |
i read the entire book tonight. this soundtrack was the perfect accompaniment.
|
| |
"implying that the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald are that far ahead of Jay-Z and Baz's successes"
lol you are dumb
|
| |
Considering it was published in 1925, uh... yeah, yeah I'm definitely going to go out on a limb and say nobody will give nearly an iota of a fraction of a fuck about Jay Z's work that far in the future in relative terms.
|
| |
this movie looks god awful
|
| |
and the book was so good..
|
| |
bummed Gatsby's American Dream missed the soundtrack
|
| |
I feel a little bad for liking the Will.I.Am track, but to hear "Shot him with a bang!" is so damn catchy. Also digging Where the Wind blows (Coco O), Hearts A Mess (Gotye), and Young and Beautiful (Lana Del Ray.)
The album isn't too bad. Based on the original material Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, and Ella Fitzgerald would have been perfect, but considering how Baz Luhrmann like's to bling out his movies, these aren't too bad.
|
| |
jay-z kinda sucks these days.
|
| |
This just makes me more excited for the movie.
|
| |
"Entry level literature"
|
| |
love is blindness, awesome
|
| |
I seem to like Florence & The Machine's soundtrack songs a bit more than their ordinary work. "Over The Love" is wonderful.
|
| |
I looked at The Great Gatsby recently and realized how small of book it is. Like damn, that means Of Mice and Men must be an hour read these days.
|
| |
So is the film gonna be good?
|
| |
it looks like it will be
|
| |
This is such a strange soundtrack for a movie set in the 20's
|
| |
this sucks
|
| |
I am a fan of everything related to The Great Gatsby, and of course, I liked this soundtrack too. After reading the novel for the first time, I was very shocked and pleasantly surprised and began to look for additional information. I loved this site with essay examples on The Great Gatsby which you can use either for personal education or as college papers, very handy and save a lot of time.
