Deerhunter Stream New Album

2013-04-24 by joplinpicasso | 24 Comments
Following two cryptic, harrowing performances of their new album's title track so far this year at New York's Museum of Modern Art P.S.1 and on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon', Georgia psych/noise-rockers Deerhunter have released 'Monomania' (their fifth or sixth full-length release, depending on whom you ask) for streaming through NPR Music and Stereogum. Lead singer and musical provocateur Bradford Cox had described the album as a "nocturnal garage" record and claimed Bo Diddley was the "god" of the LP.

Here's the NPR stream: http://www.npr.org/2013/04/21/177759938/first-listen-deerhunter-monomania

There's only one God and that is God. The universe is one but the universe is just a part of that one.

Album is fantastic. It's awesome, but in a different way than Halcyon Digest or Microcastle. There is a bit of a middle album slump, but the melody in Sleepwalking alone makes me wanna 5 it.

I feel it's a little weaker than the last two albums, but still great.

Middle album slump? Nah. This one's pace is fantastic, IMO.

Oh my oh my...I can't believe this day has come already. Half way thru, a not so left field twist of garage rock I should've seen coming. Will report after 10 listens, farewell
