dude you gotta listen to music in context. amon amarth = primal (but very melodic) music that's supposed to sound like the image it's trying to portray, which is vikings raping and pillaging motherfuckers. not all music and lyrics are supposed to have some profound meaning. atmosphere is pretty huge (at least for me) and especially in metal

i rarely even give a shit about lyrics unless it's like a concept album or something. but if it can enhance the atmosphere than i'm all for it.

And what does clean singing actually add, apart from making the music all melodic and crap? Music
is art. Art is supposed to represent different feelings, and evoke a sense of those feeling in its
audience. Death metal does this. It's art, it's expression. Death metal, specifically, is an
attempt at pushing the boundaries of art, pushing musicians to both reach for their physical limits,
as well reach into new, less "welcome" or "normal" musical territory.

Not liking death metal is one thing, but saying that the genre has no merit simply because you don't
enjoy the techniques used by many of its vocalists is pretty stupid.
