Dark Tranquillity lose bassist

2013-02-19 by OmairSh | 20 Comments
Daniel Antonsson has decided to amicably part ways with the band to focus more on his own
musical projects. He joined the band in 2008 replacing bassist of 9 years Mikael Niklasson, and performed on the 2010 record We Are The Void.

The decision was made before the studio sessions for the band's upcoming 10th studio album Construct which is scheduled to be released on the 27th of May. The band haven't said anything with regards to his replacement as of yet.

The band's and Daniel's statements are in the following link:

Sad. On the other hand that's hardly a setback for them, prolly a thousand guys would love to play with DT

Oh and btw "Construct" somehow sounds very fitting for a DT album. Almost predictably so. And I remember people saying similar stuff when Opeth announced the title "Heritage"

Assuming he was solely the bass player and nothing more, he was useless in a band of this genre.

In a formulaic band like DT sure. Not to say death metal can't have audible bass

Come on, Fiction was brilliant. They can make something better than we are the void, for sure.
