Haarp Machine members depart

2013-01-27 by VisceralUproar | 29 Comments
Vocalist Mike Semesky, drummer Alex Rudinger, and bassist Ollie Rooney depart the Haarp Machine, citing personal differences with guitarist Al Mu’min. Mu' min denies the allegations, saying it had "more to do with musical direction."

The band, whose well-received album "Disclosure" was released just months ago on Sumerian, is on uncertain terms right now, as it is unknown whether Mu' min will continue the band. Semesky assures fans that he and his other band mates "are in no way giving up on our music careers" and says he will be searching for a new musical home. You can read the full statements from Semesky and Mu' min at the link below.

I wasn't a huge fan of Disclosure, but it did sound like an album that the typical Sumerian fan would absolutely love.

I also guarantee the new band or whatever that the departed members form will sound exactly like The HAARP Machine...

The hell? It was (generally) one of then better djent albums too... I wonder what "musical direction" Al-Mumin is planning on taking.

"not only was Al Mu’min hard to get along with (it was said that he threatened to burn someone’s house down)"

Wow. And that's why Arabs have no friends.

The album was pretty bleh so I don't really give a shit. The guitarist clearly has issues getting along with other people, it took them years to even put out that record because members kept leaving the band.

I assume the band is dead.

Hey! I'm brown too. And the fact that Al-Mumin threatened to jihad someone pretty much breaks the comedy scale.

apparently one of the big reasons is that mu'min cant play his parts live and uses studio magic to record his tougher guitar parts. fucking lame

Really? The hype-train for "Disclosure" was ridiculous, ended up dishing out an underwhelmingly short album, and now they're breaking up the band. I thought it was pretty good stuff, too.

Over-hyped debut that ended up being mediocre.

So this really isn't that relevant. He'll go on doing some kind of shitty solo project for the rest of his days.

I don't agree with them saying he couldn't play his guitar parts. Ever seen stranberg works? The demo videos of his play through before the album came out? The dude is shred at guitar. I can see him not being a great teamplayer though due to his interviews, etc. It's a shame bands have to go through bullshit like this, especially as adults.

If you want to know anything about Mu'min you should apparently ask one of the other 30 (seriously not kidding or exaggerating) ex members of his band, for example Monument's drummer or Craig Reynolds who played drums on Disclosure. I doubt that he will find anyone to play with by now, which is a shame because (studio magic or not) Disclosure is killer. Dude can write great songs.
