DTS remixes Aesop

2012-12-10 by Julianna Reed EMERITUS | 18 Comments
Zavala, producer from hip-hop duo Dark Time Sunshine, has remixed Aesop Rock's track "Cycles to Gehenna." The remix brings Aesop's motorcycle confessions into a new light, and fans of either artist should check out the tune here:

This sounds nothing like Design the Skyline. I am perturbed.

this is pretty cool, but Zavala's beats don't really work that well with Aesop's flow, in my opinion.

I like it, but it sounds forced.

Aids, I can see what you mean. It's a really cool idea, at least.

And I much prefer Aesop's vocals than Onry's, so I'm a sucker for this one.

This is not very good at all. It sounds like some guy put a random beat under an Aesop track. Doesn't work.

That's basically what these types of remixes are like, though. It's like Aesop's lyrics are instead channeled into a DTS track, with different vibes, and I think it works really well.

I see what Detective Dan is saying. When I started the video, I was gonna post something like that because, especially in the first 30 seconds or so, it just doesn't work at all. It starts sounding better towards the end, but overall, I'd much rather just listen to Aesop's or DTS's original work.

Fair enough. I enjoy hearing it as an experiment, but they definitely do their own thing well when they're on their own.

Aesop is my favourite hip-hop artist but he doesn't sound great with DTS... both on Vessel and ANX, songs with him are by far my least favourite, I think it's becasue the beats he doesn't feel right over Zavala production
