The reasons to get into Voivod are as many as their albums.

It's that simple.

Artwork is pretty bad, imo. Album will probably rule based on what's been released thus far, though.

Im with Goatlord. WTF happened after Nothingface? Angel Rat and all the following albums arent crap bad, but they are very dissapointing, at least coming for the guys that made the CRACK called Dimension Hatross.

I hope as, with the artwork, this is a return to roots. (Art sucks btw)

I really doubt this isn't going to be my AOTY for 2013. The track they released rocks and the teaser for the other one rocks hard too. And KILL, I agree that Outer Limits rocks hard. Really, there is only 1 Voivod album I consider "bad."

Viper: Listen to Nothingface, then Dimension Hatross.
Voivod: Sorry buddy, no offense, but i think youre biased toward this band. Negatron and Phobos are subpar, and Angel Rat is plain dissapointing. Outer Limits fares a little better, but imo is not on par with their 2 masterpieces.

And seriously, art is awful. I know i shouldnt, but im just hoping this is a return to their 80`s work (highly doubtful after piggy`s death, R.I.P).

Voivod have weak releases as well, but the magnitude of the term "weak" depends highly on the band itself.

For the majority of bands and in terms of Sputnik rating system, "weak" spans between 1-3(tops)/5.

Imho, "weak" for Voivod spans around 3.5/5 and the albums with such a rating are Rrroooaaarrr, Negatron, Angel Rat, Voivod, Katorz and Infini.

However, these albums either mark a transition for a band which has been constantly on a transition status (Rrroooaaarrr, Angel Rat, Negatron and Voivod) or they were made under highly unfortunate circumstances (RIP Piggy - Katorz and Infini).

Mechanical Mind? Yeah, sounds pretty decent and a lil thrashy, but i dont want my hopes too high until i hear the whole thing.
