Sounds absolutely nothing like Tomahawk, which is the only thing I had heard by the band up to this point. Song's pretty typical rock, but Mike Patton's on it so it's still pretty great.

Uhh..
whats going on with this song
not what I expected
I just want to hear the song from the album teaser
|
| |
Wasn't terrible but wasn't great. I wish Trevor Dunn would have been a little more exciting.
|
| |
Read this as Tony Hawk
|
| |
This song is surprisingly straight forward for being Tomahawk, still decent though.
|
| |
but still, somewhat too simple...though surprisingly catchy
|
| |
Patton, Dunn. If you guys go Pop-Rock on our asses imma kill you.
|
| |
Mit Gas had some very straight-forward rock songs on it. still stoked to hear this. 2012 is just incredible.
|
| |
trevor dunn is in this band? i didn't know that
|
| |
"trevor dunn is in this band? i didn't know that"
Kevin Rutmanis quit (or was kicked out... never know with Patton) back in 2007, It was just announced earlier this year that Dunn is his official replacement.

Dunn is an excellent bassist anyway, so it's all good. He's in Fantomas. I wonder what's going on with Fantomas. I'd love to see another album from them.

I agree, it is quite similar in accessibility to many Mit Gas tracks. If Rape This Day got released ahead of Mit Gas I would assume that entire album sounded like the Foo Fighters (it really fucking doesn't). That said, I do hope the rest of Oddfellows is a bit more experimental, Patton's at his best when he's at his craziest. Bungle forever.
|
| |
meh, doesn't feel like Tomahawk. Not a bad song, but its nothing you would hear on Self-Titled or Anonymous.
|

I like eet

I hope this is not a sign of sloppy things to come. Hopefully it will make sense in the context of the album (which is apparently "their most diverse to date"?)
|
| |
Spin magazine's Christopher R. Weingarten has described the album as featuring a mix of genres, including "groany, smoky, Morricone-jazz" and "the types of epic, majestic choruses that Patton diehards might remember from the final Faith No More LP, Album of the Year".
Okay this is probably gonna rule.
|
| |
yea this just sounds like KFAD/AotY era Faith No More, which is not a bad thing at all
|
| |
no reason to lack faith
