Rolling Stones Turn 50

2012-08-31 by JohnXDoesn't | 15 Comments
If papa was a rolling stone I'd say he'd be more like grand papa by now, as the band The Rolling Stones is slated to celebrate it's 50th...*ahem*....Birthday later this year with a flurry of activity and events to mark the occasion.

This year marks the first time the Stones have gathered for work since coming off the road in 2007. In Paris last week recording two new tracks for an upcoming box set, the band also quietly got together in NYC this past April to rehearse songs for upcoming shows marking the band's 50th, and possible tour.

But if things remain sketchy about the band's distant future given their age and time, one thing is for sure. And that is the legendary group will take the stage for at least several gigs before year's end, and according to Keith Richards are getting along famously. Asked whether or not he and Jaggar would be getting together to write some new material in the near future the guitarist left the press with an emphatic answer of "I have no doubt."

If the Stones own history still leaves some doubt as to when and where that might happen, what is certain is the band will be hitting the stage, and soon. Although not yet officially confirmed sources within the bands inner circle report two shows scheduled at England's OZ Arena in November, and yet two more at Brooklyn's Barclays Center come years end. So Stones fans, be on the lookout.

And finally, the last day of those NYC rehearsals this past April were filmed for a new documentary about the Stones to be titled Crossfire Hurricane and released this November 15th. According to its director the film will cover all 50 years of the Stones career and feature never seen before footage from years gone past, as well as the new footage taped for the film.

The frequent usage of conjunctions to begin sentences is a bit grating.

The stones have always been my least favorite of the popular classic rock bands, but they still got a bunch of bangin tunes.

yeah this one's decently written. lots of respect for what the Stones have done, they had some really great stuff. also it really is pretty amazing that the band itself is almost 50 years old and they're still playing
