New John Frusciante song 2012-08-16 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 19 Comments | John Frusciante has released a new track for free download through his official website, called "Walls And Doors", which was left off the upcoming record PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone, due out on September 24 (WW) & September 25 (US).
Regarding the track, Frusciante said "this song, recorded in September 2010, marks the point at which I began combining 60s and early 70s production styles with modern electronic production styles. This song was also the first time I successfully balanced pop music with abstract forms of music. This song showed me that the pop parts of myself and the more adventurous parts of myself could blend without one compromising the scope of the other. After this song I did not pick up the ball and run, but rather I continued to challenge myself, refine my engineering, experiment and investigate, more from the abstract angle than the pop angle, until March 2011, at which point I’d figured out the things which made it possible for me to consistently make precisely the music I wanted to make, in which I was not restraining any part of my nature, allowing me to begin the recording of PBX. I might mention that Walls And Doors was also the first time my electronic instruments had begun to convey the visceral energy that one associates with people beating the fuck out of their instruments, in the context of a pop song."

wowzawhaaa?
| | | hear the Zeppelin drum sample.
it's schizophrenic and the drums are way up front but it's pretty cool.
| | | That was really cool, I've never given his solo material any attention, but wow...
I wasn't expecting that at all...
| | | This is unlike almost all of his solo discography. It's interesting, I'm curious to hear the album. Still, I'd like to hear some guitar record sometime soon.
| | | This was good, though i wish for The Empyrean pt. 2 some time soon.
| | | Really great track, I'm so excited for the new album :O Although I'd really like to hear a "The Empyrean II" as well haha
| | | This is pretty sweet, I dig the melodies and vocals. There's some great stuff going on instrumentally too, but he kind of pissed all over it with the crazy drumming
| | | This was good, though i wish for The Empyrean pt. 2 some time soon. [2]
| | | a god among men
| | | I came
| | | Can't wait for this album to drop.
| | | yep this dude rules
| | | Was fine but not my thing.
| | | Actually those drums pretty much ruin it
| | | Fuckin rules so hard, This man is God, one of many
| | | Pretty cool, but yeah I wish the drums were a bit lower. I think he is so nuts that the drums being that high is on purpose and doesn't even bother him
| | | was ok
| | | Nah
| | | California.
