Skrillex Influences New Muse Record?

2012-07-26 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 162 Comments
British rock band Muse have spoken to Kerrang! about their new album, "The 2nd Law", and described how Skrillex has helped shape the sound that will be appearing on it.
Dominic Howard explains: "We went to see Skrillex in Camden around October. We went, 'F***, it's so heavy,' loved it.

"It was like a full metal gig, they had circles of death, people were moshing, I hadn't seen a reaction like that to electronic music before. We took inspiration and came up with 'The 2nd Law: Unsustainable'."

Matt Bellamy continued, "We created something that was dubsteppy but we wanted to see if we could do it with real instruments."

News article: http://www.kerrangradio.co.uk/music/muse-skrillex-the-2nd-law/

The 2nd Law is released on Monday 17th September.

"Muse are always experimenting and pushing themselves to go further and try new things - to go beyond. I say good on them, bring it on. The mark of a true musician is someone who is able to challenge themselves, to try new things, and to stay true to themselves (by which I don't mean 'staying true to what they've done before', but rather staying true to themselves by making the music THEY want to make without being afraid of how much money they could lose or how many people they might piss off)."

If they're going for "heavy" and not giving in to the Electronica bullshit, hopefully it'll be okay. I'm not a huge fan of their last 2 1/2 albums, but I'm really rooting for them here.

No! Just, no! Is that supposed to be a good thing?! It's bad enough we got a Skrillex-influenced Korn album, now Muse?! I hate Skrillex enough, because now this lazy untalented asshole become the face of dubstep, the worst possible thing to happen is to have him become the muse (no pun intended) for much better acts in completely unrelated genres of music.
