Mike has really had his fall from grace in the drumming world in my opinion. Top comment ("i feel like mike isnt as goo [sic] as he used to be, like hes just settling for being a "metal" drummer instead of being the all around great drummer he used to be") is totally accurate.

Rhymer smoked Mike here; his grooves and beats were way more interesting than Portnoy's good-but-amateurish soloing. Mike was still really fun to watch too though.

"panic attack" isn't that hard, if you have even a small amount of foot control then it's not too hard.
I don't see why people still use "drum duels" as a measure of what drummer is better than another, the whole idea is just outdated and juvenile, and it never proves anything. it's like the entire public saw "drumline" and decided that that's how literally the entire percussion world is.

Rymer's first was better than his second, speed ain't shit compared to the groove and subtleties of the first. Portnoy has always been overrated and no-one has ever believed me. I don't care whether this is staged or not, it is a lot closer to the truth than most DT sackriders believe.
