Marilyn Manson's new stuff is shit.
| |
Wait...he's still relevant?
| |
Marilyn Manson's new stuff is shit.
nah The High End of Low ruled
not sure about this song though
| |
boring and shitty.
| |
yeah this was disappointing. his voice shouldn't be so big in the production and they could have done much more with the riff
| |
it sounds like a more upbeat Holy Wood but that's not necessarily a good thing
sounds pretty hollow
| |
I'm actually surprised he's still alive.
| |
Damn, this is not as bad as I thought it would be.
| |
Heres to hoping he goes more back to his industrial metal roots on this one cause he didnt really do that at all on The High End of Low
| |
this guy hasn't done anything worthwhile in 17 years
| |
dude's never been good ever
| |
whats with the pic? he turned emo?
| |
He's never done anything worth paying attention to
| |
Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood rule face so shut up
| |
whats with the pic? he turned emo?
Undercut dude.
| |
and antichrist superstar too
| |
"Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood rule face so shut up"
too shitty sounding for me. His first record is the only one that doesn't suck.
| |
^ second album and first EP are pretty good as well.
| |
The only good thing about this song is nothing
| |
wow it is brutally unremarkable... so the same shit he's been putting out for almost 15 years now.
| |
Manson has two decent albums....Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals. Everything else he's done is generally a regurgitated imitation of work from those two albums.
I have no idea how Holywood gets so much praise when it's such a slog to get through...
| |
nah The High End of Low ruled
@AnarchistFish - that album had some of the worst vocals and I Want To Kill You Like They Do In Movies is torture. So far Twiggy's return wasn't spectacular as everyone thinks.
| |
His first record is the only one that doesn't suck.
Portait of an American Family? Really?
| |
Lunchbox is his best song IMO, but as a whole, Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals are the best ; The Golden Age Of Grotesque is great too
No Reflection sounds a lot better than expected.
| |
nothing he's done is bad! these days he just needs to be more agressive and industrial without that kind of vocal cringe he's developed.
| |
What's with all the hate? Antichrist Superstar, Holy Wood, and Mechanical Animals are ALL awesome. This song is kind of okay, but still, why the hate for his older stuff? Damn internet and its infinite unwarranted bashing of awesome things.

| |
yeah i no longer care about marilyn manson
| |
I Want To Kill You Like They Do In Movies is my favorite song off the album. Anyways, I like this song.
| |
Mechanical Animals is his most solid album but Holy Wood has the best songs
| |
fundamentally loathesome is brilliant, the solo/instrumental is badass.
| |
Wait...he's still relevant? [2]
Was my first thought.
| |
Portrait is good. Antichrist and Mechanical Animals are superb. Holy Wood is a great. Golden Age and Eat Me Drink Me are terribly average and times horrendous. While High End of Low is a good comeback with some awful flaws.
Song is not as bad as I thought it would be but isn't any where near as good as I hoped it would be. *sigh*
| |
And for the people asking if he is relevant.
Yes, he is a musician with music news on a music website.
| |
love this new song, and how can people question hsi relevance. even the High end of low was better than half the crap that is put out by most bands nower days.
| |
Golden Age RULED. It's honestly my favourite album from him by far. Mechanical has my favourite songs from him, but several of the songs on that album are also terrible.
| |
doubt this guy will make a comeback.
| |
Golden Age rules, but Holy Wood is king
| |
might have to download holy wood. havent heard it in years.
| |
Mechanical Animals is his most solid album but Holy Wood has the best songs
Antichrist Superstar is more consistent and has his best songs. Mechanical Animals showed that he wasn't a one trick pony and could mix things up. Holywood just seemed like he panicked and tried to produce something palatable to more people, and ended up producing a dull, overlong retread of his previous stuff.
| |
Eh, this was purely unremarkable and uninteresting. I should at least be able to hate a Manson track if it's not gonna be good.
| |
One of the few people I wouldn't mind shoving off a cliff. And then finding his body..and puncturing his stomach with a screwdriver
| |
Why the hate for Eat Me Drink Me? That was a truly awesome album
| |
No, it sucked. Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, and Holy Wood are classics.
| |
idg why people like his music. But besides that, the guy obviously has life skills, he's rich and his list of female conquests is downright amazing (despite him being nasty looking).
| |
He's smart as hell too
| |
he needs Trent Reznor to do everything for him again
| |
He promised us "suicide death metal." Liar.
| |
"Heres to hoping he goes more back to his industrial metal roots"
You mean his Reznor era :P
Vocals kinda reminded me of a less great "(s)AINT" at the beginning. As far as singles go this is up
with the ones from the previous album, still enjoy the guy.
| |
Anyone see him at Soundwave? completely pathetic...
| |
Why the hate for Eat Me Drink Me? That was a truly awesome album
It was nice but it didn't have the balls and is still better than High End Of Low.
And yeah Soundwave was bad (slightly better than his last tour though). If he wasn't drinking all the time and taking all sorts of drugs he'd be better.
| |
Still would like to see him live sometime.
| |
Eat Me Drink Me has some good songs but overall it's bland. I feel the same about Antichrist Superstar
| |
I wouldn't buy a ticket to see him now, I'd only end up hating the fact that I gave the money to hear somebody choking up and dying on stage. Maybe when he'll be sober.
| |
didn't he already die in celebrity deathmatch?
| |
he's the angel with the scabbed wings now
| |
Yeah apparently he's shit live now.
Coma White is my favourite MM song I think. The Fight Song, Coma Black and Mechanical Animals aren't far behind though.
| |
Coma White is such a great song and definitely one of his best
| |
Yeah Fight Song is really good, Rock Is Dead too. Each album has a few standouts, but I don't know why, I still like Lunchbox the most.
| |
The Golden Age of Grotesque is my favorite work by him.
| |
I really like John 5's work on that album. It's heavier but Manson isn't at his best on some tracks.
| |
Golden Age is severely underrated, its pretty awesome
| |
Holy Wood has the industrial vibe from Antichrist Superstar mixed with the straightforward rock he did on Mechanical Animals which is why I love it so much. Its got John 5's awesome riffs, Twiggys fat bass tone and songwriting skills, and its Mansons best conceptual work with the lyrics and all that.
| |
Yeah. If you haven't checked it out already there's a fansite (http://www.nachtkabarett.com/Grotesque) that dissected each album to the smallest details from all angles. I found a lot of interesting and cool stuff I didn't know Manson inserted in the albums' artwork/lyrics etc.
| |
It was Eat Me Drink Me that started the downfall with all his love hurt teenager whining that he shouldn't be singing about at 40 years. He sang about all the interesting stuff in his 20s and now he's like a butthurt teenager with the "if you don't love me I'll kill you" attitude.
| |
was he married at that time with Dita von Teese ?
| |
Yeah Dita Von Teese and her burlesque thing was a HUGE influence on Golden Age's direction
| |
he's such an idiot for losing her, she's incredibly hot. now he's hanging out with preteen girls
| |
What I really couldnt stand about Eat Me, Drink Me and The High End of Low were the constant lyrical references to Evan Rachel Wood. I'm really hoping he stays away from that on this album.
| |
this time he said it's gonna be a suicide metal thing. it doesn't sound so good. I don't know why I think it's gonna have the same amount of angry tracks and then those "ballads" he's been doing on Eat Me and High End.
| |
Despite his lyrics being absolutely horrid lately I'm still looking forward to what Twiggy did with the music on this new album. This song here wasnt that bad, the first single off High End was terrible.
| |
he needs John 5 back more than Twiggy. He should pay him to give Manson an album worth of riffs
| |
TGAOG had some great songs but a lot of dull ones too. It lacks the edge of his previous stuff
| |
John 5 and Twiggy together in his band really gave the music an edge that he hasnt been able to recapture since
| |
he should do a clever album, not necessarily trying to be a shocker, but to just put you into thinking, like Holy Wood for example
| |
yeah..most likely. I remember you told me this a few months ago and I said it would be the last album I'd have expectations for haha.
| |
I read this and it's so true. when you look at how Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson have grown, you see what a bitch can Manson be. almost each guitarist left the band because of him. scrap that, almost each member. he's clever but he's a shitty person.
| |
yeah I guess it's a lot of fun but from a certain age you can't go on like that because it'll destroy you. even Al Jourgensen is in a better shape than him now.
| |
Yeah I love his songs but man, he's ideas to shock are just sad indeed.
"oooh I found some cocaine on stage" *throws white powder in the crowd...
We all knew it was baby powder.
| |
yeah...that was funny in a stupid way. I'd like to be a member of his live band for a tour just to see how's he and Twiggy.
| |
Antichrist Superstar through Holy Wood were great to solid albums.
| |
Twiggy Ramirez was quoted as saying "We've got a new album [that we're working on]. It's almost done. It'll probably be out next year. [...] It's our best record yet, I think."
they just don't see it do they?
| |
well yea, he's a dick
| |
I loved him when he was seriously on drugs and freaking out in each concert. Same goes for Nine Inch Nails, even though I loved how Reznor and his band perfected their live performances.
| |
I think he has the potential to rebrand his sound to a more subtle one with a deeper darkness. He's
too old to be an in-your-face "shock" rocker and as andcas said, the media's desensitised now anyway
so it doesn't work and he just ends up looking silly. and this "woe is me" shit is annoying and
completely contradicts what he's tried to otherwise make out. the music that goes with it can be
enjoyable but it's a bit hollow and gets boring quickly. especially with the production it's treated
to
I'm thinking a whole album's worth of stuff like Coma Black/White, Lamb Of God or In The Shadow Of
The Valley Of Death with more vague lyrics that are left open to a certain degree of interpretation
I guess there's the issue of actually being able to write good music
| |
@andcas - seeing them in 2009 live it was the best concert I have seen in my life so far. I managed to see them with Robin Finck who is my favourite guitarist.
@AnarchistFish - true. and he needs a better guitarist. Some of his heavier songs have more impact too. Twiggy should go back to bass.
| |
"golden age as a whole was a mess and void of classic mm."
It was the perfect hybrid of where Manson wanted to go and the remnants of Reznor's clutches, it's why I love it so.
`
| |
I just never fell in love with an entire album of his before that one, the industrial side was cool and had some great tracks but as a whole I never thought they flowed well.
| |
the album is scheduled to be released on 30 April. yeeeey
| |
The "party" songs on Mechanical are terrible
| |
Mechanical Animals is better than his two latest albums but really was underwhelming for me.
| |
I'm not too big on tracks like I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me), The Dope Show, or Rock Is Dead. I'm aware Golden Age is probably full of those types of songs, but I enjoyed them a lot more than the ones on Mechanical.
| |
Mechanical is still a great album of course, but I just prefer Golden Age.
| |
Does the song feature people eating their own firefighters?
| |
The only way he becomes truly relevant again, is if he stops whining about his breakups with 20 year olds and start paying attention to the shit going on in the world these days (like he used to) and write some good songs, stop trying to get the attention of teenagers and grow up.
Dude is a pretty clever guy with a lot of writing talent, if he got back to that I don't see why songwriting couldn't pick up.
| |
I'd like to imagine that he's got the relationship issues out of his system by now, but obviously we won't know until the album drops.
| |
I'd like that too but I have a feeling he is still there.
| |
not to suck andcas's dick here but Mechanical Animals is his best
| |
Shit, I knew it would be
| |
I agree with Timmons, Fundamentally loathsome is beast.
might be my favorite MM song.
| |
dude rules hard...
| |
