It's an annual song contest in Europe where each country participates with one song. Each country can vote on songs from other countries and the song which gets most points wins.
Was actually watching the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest when these guys came on. It was quite awkward.

I know what Eurovision is but how can you have a Swedish Eurovision. That's like saying you're going
to play in the French World Cup, or you're a member of the Canadian version of the UN

Before the "European" Eurovision Song Contest there is a "National" European Song Contest in each country (at least where i live) where the people gets to decide what song they want to represent their nation at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Pop metal either refers to glam metal or very overproduced and watered down metal with catchy pop choruses. in this case it's the latter
