Monuments Find New Vocalist

2012-01-24 by This is literally the only website I've read more than one person say I was an "awful rapper" | 24 Comments
UK math metal band Monuments-best known as "spiritual successor" to guitarist John Browne's old band Fellsilent-have announced that, after months of searching, they have finally found a new vocalist. Vocal tracking for their perennially-delayed debut album has since begun in earnest.
The album, set to include guest vocals from the likes of Kim Benzies of Dead Letter Circus, was originally scheduled to be released in 2011, but was delayed after the departure of vocalists Neema Askari (ex-Fellsilent) and Greg Pope.

This may be good, because I thought the vocals were terrible anyway.

I bet you're happy, Butkuiss.. I'd be interested to hear how they sound considering a decent vocalist is pretty hard to find

Tesseract>Fellsilent>Monuments. It's just the way it goes.

But I agree, Fellsilent should just get back together already. Even if just to support SikTh on their reunion. However, with all the shit that's gone down between Neema and John, I doubt it'll ever happen.

@Puzzles. More curious than happy, really.

As they we're searching half a year for a new vocalist, I really hope they found a guy who can replace Neema and Greg... I'm really exicted about how he will sound on the album. However I am quite confident talking about their music. The songs they played on Euroblast last October we're awesome as fuck (though instrumental). If the album will sound alike with good vocals, it will definitely be on the same level as 'The Hidden Words' or higher.

math metal? Aren't they generally referred to as djent now?

Yeah, pretty much, but I was hesitant to use that term in a news article. Around here, it just leads to OMG DJENT NOT GENRE WTF.

Though I really have no problems with djent being referred to as a genre. Personally, I support it.

Djent should just become an official "subgenre". There's already far worse names in metal and cmon, at least djent doesn't with a "dash core"

Also, bout fucking time. I still rock to Fellsilent. Excited to hear new material.

In reality, genres are just subjective ideals and descriptions used to group music/art via similar characteristics. Anything can be referred to as a genre.

I really don't get the resistance, but meh.

Neema is actually a really nice guy irl. Very friendly, honest, open-minded and adept in terms of technique and music in general. I'm sad he was booted out. We'll see how things will roll for Monuments and who the new vocalist will be..

To be honest, I actually like Neema's vocal style. Still kinda sad he's gone.

Neema fit the band perfectly, it is kinda sad that he's gone. Hopefully he pops up in a new band, i expect him to anyway. We are the foundation sounded brilliant with him behind the mic. Also, i wonder if we're gonna hear any of that unreleased material that was supposed to be part of fellsilent's sophomore effort...

Apparently those songs were going on Monuments' debut (in some form), but with Neema now gone, I doubt they'll be released as such.

Isn't one of the guitarists from fellsilent too though?

Yes, John Browne. Ex-Fellsilent, now Monuments. There are a lot of Demo-Recordings out by him (sometimes labeled as Monuments) and some songs of the 8Dio Project. Don't know though if this is unreleased FS material or future Monuments stuff...

i'm getting so confused. can they just release an album? writing a 4 minute song takes like 1 minute. I would know, I'm a genius.
