Song is boring as ferk, funny how they opted to go all "this is true death metal" over such a stale and lifeless backing. What if somebody thinks that this is what death metal is about? Will probably just ignore this release.

Song isn't bad at all. Way better than what some of the "old school" death metal bands are putting out these days.

can't listen to the song yet, but I love The Rack and Last One on Earth so I'll probably check it out

The vast majority of retro-death is derivative drivel, yes. I think that literally the only new wave band I'm excitedly following is Krypts.

You realize that Asphyx has been around for two decades and their frontman is the legendary Martin Van Drunen, right?

My comment was a response to this. If I was noob enough to not know Asphyx from your average revivalist band, would I be into such a global power band as Krypts? Or terribly underrated demo era legends from the times of old like Eternal Darkness (Swe) or Paraxism? :P I'm sorry it sounded downright silly in context.
