Two Exhorder members quit 2011-10-22 by CakeWithCream | 9 Comments | Vocalist Kyle Thomas of the legendary New Orleans groove/thrash band Exhorder released a
statement concerning his departure:
"On behalf of Jay Ceravolo and myself, it is with much regret and disappointment that we are
both leaving Exhorder. There is much darkness surrounding Exhorder at this time due to
business and personal differences. We extend deep apologies to those that this has both
inconvenienced and disappointed. In the wake of the passing of Frankie Sparcello and the
constant state of disarray that the band has found itself in since reforming, the negatives
have far outweighed the positives. We both feel that this is what we must do, and wish that
things could have turned out better, as Exhorder has never attained the potential that it so
rightfully should have. I wish all of my brothers involved well and good luck in whatever
the future brings them, whether or not Exhorder continues."
Exhorder formed in 1985 and were originally a pure thrash band. After a few demos they
started to adapt a more groove-oriented sound and released the classic Slaughter In The
Vatican in 1990. Exhorder's sound has been tied to Pantera's and AMG has claimed Exhorder is
"Pantera without the major label backing." In 1992 they released their sophomore effort The
Law and later that year, they disbanded. Since then, they have reunited to play several gigs
in 1998, 2001, and 2003. But in 2008 they announced they had reunited and were writing new
material. In 2011, their bassist Frankie Sparcello passed away due to unknown causes.
