Guitar World is streaming the first half of Arch / Matheos' new album, Sympathetic Resonance, ahead of its September 13 release date.

The album is a collaboration between Fates Warning guitarist Jim Matheos and original vocalist John Arch. The two previously reunited for Arch's 2003 A Twist of Fate EP. The rest of the band lineup features current Fates Warning members Frank Aresti (lead guitar), Joey Vera (bass) and Bobby Jarzombek (drums).

This album kicks all kinds of ass.

Indeed it does. Can't believe I'm saying this, but... if Redemption keeps doing what they've been doing and this band truly stays active, I may be able to live without new Fates Warning.

If you didn't hate them instantly, then they'll probably be able to grow on you.

I hated him instantly when I heard "Night on Brocken" lol But Willie's right, it grows on you.

Come on. On Night On Brocken his voice was still pretty raw and the music didn't really help very much.

His vocals on this are the best he's ever done, imo. Still hits some amazingly high notes (especially considering how long ago those FW albums were recorded), but overall stays in a more controlled and pleasant sounding range.

True Willie, I'll still be checking this out because Matheos and Arch are incredible together.

This is probably the best thing either of those two have been a part of (together or seperate) -- that includes John Arch solo album, Fates Warning's 10 albums, OSI, Jim's solo albums...

Edit: Maybe not as great as Perfect Symmetry but it's close.
